Hell she wasnt willing to do the work necessary to build a football program and get it to FBS. Its just that she finally got called on it. Becker is in Legacy Mode. He needs to dealing with the university big picture stuff, not down in the athletic weeds hiring HCs and calling conferences.
So yall moving to the AAC now that your AD is gone?
I think he meant that Becker was heavily involved with contacting the Sun Belt about our move to FBS. If left up to Levick, we would still be in the CAA right now.

I don't think anyone from Georgia State is delusional enough to HONESTLY believe that we are anywhere close to getting into the AAC. We tend to leave delusions of grandeur up to you Georgia Southern fans.

Happy for some, yes, but I suspect for the majority it gives optimism that the Turner Field deal has a much better chance without her. In her five years, I give her credit for two good hires in BB and FB, but a big fail when it comes to cultivating relationships at the university, within Atlanta, and even among conference mates. She administered, that's about it. She was quite good at irritating lots of folks--fans, supporters, community, etc. President Becker recognized she was a liability for something as important as the Turner Field deal, an opportunity to transform Panther athletics, downtown Atlanta, the university. He needs a strong AD who can repair relationships among so many constituents, sell the programs and sell the university. Tall order to find that person, but 1) I hope Levick gets her health in order and 2) Becker is able to bring in somebody who is part-magician and part-Trump who understands Atlanta, GSU, and Athletics.

In fairness, weren't the basketball and football coach selections handed to her by a committee? It's not like she went out on her own and found those guys.

Well, to be completely fair, of course a committee was involved in the search process, but that's not unusual. GSU hired a search firm to aid the process, which one could argue is prudent. But, she's the AD and gets, in my book, credit for two good hires. All hires go through a search committee, so we shouldn't ignore that fact; candidates meet with numerous people in that process (president, faculty, AD, etc.), but the AD also makes the recommendation.

The search firm basically did all of the heavy lifting. In the case of Miles, Becker had to take over the search along with his staff at the 11th hour. There is very little we can actually credit her with beyond administrating and self aggrandizing.
RE: Georgia State AD Levick to move to new position
Many are happy to see her gone. I love how GS started this thread and flooded this thread with the typical garbage they spew. But, the Turner Field deal will be huge. GSU can't afford to mess this up and we need all hands on deck.

The changing of an AD is a big step for you guys. How is the Pres on sports?
GaSou hit the lottery with getting a sports passionate Pres and super aggressive AD at the same time. If our old AD and or Pres were still in place we probably would not be in the Sun Belt today. Not probably we would not be in the Sun Belt at all and have to listen to our AD lecture us on how we should be excited about playing Mercer and the Citadel.
