No celiscar. Terrell actually PRACTICES only throwing to Davis. Thomas only targets Moulton. Maybe that's the real reason Wilson left. Wonder what Roberts thinks. Didn't take long for Nicholls to figure us out.
Nice INT TD for Brant though!

RE: The Wooden Oar War AKA Spring Game
Kind of an unexciting spring game, but I guess that's okay. No injuries.
QBs continue to telegraph their throws and have tunnel vision for their predetermined target. Davis continues to be a big play-maker though. He's perhaps the lone bright spot in the offense, as the RBs showed nothing today. I do like Terrell though. He is poised in the pocket and confident in his throws, he is an active leader for the offense, and his accuracy is improving.
DB Asantay Brown was impressive. Remember, this kid is an early enrollee. He was in HS a few months back, and he came out and put on a clinic today.
Devon Brant had a nice pick six off Cam Thomas.
Kendrick Roberts had a few nice catches, particularly a screen play that looked to be blown up in the backfield. Ended up taking it 50+ yards.
Both Haldeman and Scanlon have big legs and had plenty of distance on a few 50+ yarders today. Scanlon hit his, Haldeman missed.
I also noticed that Kristof Ifkovits has been switched back to DL.
One things for sure. This team is going to possibly be the youngest in the league this year. Lots of youngsters in starting roles today and then we've got 25 more guys coming in this fall, many of whom are projected to battle for starting spots. It will be interesting to see how things shake out in fall camp. It was hard to take a lot away from today, as they weren't tackling and such. Good to see some pigskin action though. It was a beautiful day for it!

I think Drew tweeted that there was only 45 scholarship players in camp right now. Add the 24 more coming in and WMU is going to need another good, and large class for 2015 if PJ is going to get his boat rowing. A couple wins early in the season could do wonders for this team.

Any other reports on the game? I am in Indy and couldn't make it. I am sure it was a 100% success (sorry).

Sounds like the receivers looked good; specifically Davis, Roberts, and Phillips. Devon Brant was moving around well. Terrell looked stronger and doesn't sound like much of a competition with Thomas at this point. Sounds like Asantay Brown played well. A couple of our secondary guys sat it out.

When did we get so low on kids on scholarship? 45 seems extremely low to me!

Graduation, abnormal amount of injuries last year, kids leaving the program - latter not unusual in transition between coaches.
But 45 scholarship players (72 total) is low. Should be higher in future.

My comment on Davis, I think he has improved physically from last year. Looks to be built up somewhat and amazingly his speed seems up as well. I don't know if anyone has comparative 40 time stats but the corners he faced could not keep up. He did a little hesitation move and blew right past them, pulled away heading to the zone.
Last year I thought he had good hands but not really the good speed. Something has happened. Just got some adult maturity? Maybe cleaned up some slight injury?

Increased speed can come from training. Some of these strength and conditioning guys can work wonders. Don't know if that is the case with Davis, but I like what I see from the new strength and conditioning staff. Guys do seem in better shape.

As long as we row the boat, we'll be fine. We're going to get twice as many wins this year!!
