Didn't see that one coming. I think Stephen is an interesting choice to replace Dave. Not sure if he is the right person but at least CBS went outside of the box with Colbert.

He's funny, but polarizing. But Dave got a little too political at the end of his run as well.

That is a weird choice.

The Stephen Colbert that has gained fame is a satirical character. We really haven't seen the real Colbert on TV since he was a correspondent with the Daily Show. Is the real Colbert going to be entertaining enough for an hour each night?

I'm also wondering how he will do without Jon Stewart.

It's his job to be polarizing though.

I don't think he will be as host of The Late Show.

I'll miss the Colbert Report though. On the bright side, this will open up a slot on Comedy Central for John Oliver, who did a great job filling in for Jon Stewart on the Daily Show.

I'm a Colbert fan, but will almost certainly stick with Fallon.

I am not real wild about this choice, but then, there is not much CBS does that I am wild about.

That is a weird choice.

The Stephen Colbert that has gained fame is a satirical character. Is he still going to be playing that character or will he be himself?

I grew tired of Colbert's character years ago. It was funny for a while but then it just got old.

I'm also wondering how he will do without Jon Stewart.

Doubt he will stick with his satirical character for the late show gig. Good for him in landing the job; however, kind of sucks because I like his current show.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing. How entertaining will the real Colbert be?

I had heard if he got the job he was going to have to drop the character. It'll be interesting because we don't know if people like the real Colbert.

Good to see these late night shows are targeting an audience that's a little younger, to say the least. I never found Jay Leno funny at all and barely enjoyed Letterman. The only late night talk show I've ever really enjoyed was Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Remains to be seen but he'll probably be fine. I wonder if his first guest will be Jon Stewert?

And to be honest, Conan's act is old too! I like Jimmy Kimmel and Fallon. I didn't have a problem with Leno until he backstabbed Conan.

I suspect Stephen will bring some aspect of his current show to The Late Show. But I will miss the Colbert Report as well. And to the person that ask what he will do without Jon Stewart (who I thought would get the gig), I think Colbert will do just fine. As I recall, when Stewart took time off from the Daily Show, Colbert show actually increased in viewership.

I hope John Oliver gets his time slot. He did a great job filling in for Jon Stewart. Honestly, I kind of liked him better than Stewart.

John Oliver's got his own weekly show on HBO starting in a month or so. The ads have it looking pretty comparable to The Daily Show.
