The thing is like Neal they only have one year HC experience with other players. Not to say we won't end up with someone like him, but just looking at the two previous it looks like we are after someone with more HC experience and good recruiter. That might change now.

South Florida got played by a MWC coach on the hot seat. That's not good.

Ouch!

UNLV got played by a MWC in the hot seat. UNLV fans don't like Rice. He's brought in phenomenal recruiting classes at a big time program with culture and support and several Final Fours throughout the 80's and early 90's and he's had an NIT and 2 1st rd NCAA losses to show for it. UNLV fans want him gone. He leveraged this offer from USF--yes, there was an offer--and another top 10 recruiting class to get a raise from UNLV. The question is why in the world would USF want Rice in the first place? He's a weak coach. 04-cheers

USF would benefit Someone from the Northeast that is keenly aware of NYC area Talent as well as PA., Ohio, Mi. Recruiting grounds. Florida has a huge Northeastern population base and many recruits have Florida connections with Family and Friends living in Florida. It goes well together. Parents want to see their kids near relatives and the Weather is great in Tampa. NYC is the Cream of the Crop for Basketball talent. It's a shame it couldn't have worked out with Steve, but thats the type of talent needed at USF.

Jim Calhoun? Is that the coach being described?

That would work. Archie Miller from Dayton also should be on the list. A10 coach elite 8 Beating Ohio st, Syracuse and Stanford to get there. Might cost more than the 1.4 mil but Very Hot Property right now.

Calhoun would thrive in a Florida environment along with His northern contacts. USF has Big Pockets to land Him.

Just extended his contract a few days ago. Was making 450k I would assume he got a massive raise.

I could be wrong, but I believe Archie Miller current salary is $800k and change per year now.

base was 450k. Its possible that incentives got it to 800k I guess. I can't find anything about his new salary. Dayton is private so I guess they don't need to tell anyone.

Looks like His Brother Sean has AZ Rolling tonight. Great Basketball Family.

Unfortunately We've all seen how contract extensions are easily gone around. Happens quite often these days.
