Scroll up two posts. It's now about the foosball.
Still waiting for your explanation of how the 2010 class was forced on us...and if you agree.
Go look back about 6 months the sheep that blindly support whoever is the current head coach no matter what. And of course I don't agree with it. The thought that he HAD to take a take 20 recruit is asinine. First it was Cal's fault , then Spoon, Cyp, Barton, Tarik and now Joe Jackson. Can't wait to see who we blame after this season. My guess would be Shaq if he goes pro or does the grad transfer thing.
Wow, quite the rambling rant that I doubt anyone can make any sense of. Sorry, but when you post more than a word or two it usually comes out a little funny.
It was Pastner's first full recruiting class. Do you think he had the option to pass on JJ and if so, how do you think that would have affected any future dealings with Memphis coaches and recruits?
So I guess you hate Joe Jackson? The last 4 years of 6 seeds or worse and round of 32 losses were HIS fault? The coach bears NO responsibility ?
I'll hang up and listen

That thought process would lead someone to believe that Pastner thought JJ would not be a productive player and he would be better served to pass on him...That is the only way that Pastner would have felt FORCED is if he didn't want the player. By all accounts Pastner did not have any better options lined up.

This gibberish must be a response to something someone else posted. I'll wait for you to post something that makes sense and I will be happy to respond.

If Pastner quietly stops recruiting an out of town player ranked in the top 20 in his class, nobody knows or cares about it. Pastner went through a lot of crap recruiting Black, Austin, the Lawsons and now Skal, because he had to and still has to.

Agreed...He has to not because of future issues, but because he doesn't have better options. If he felt he could ignore the local kids like Cal and recruit over them he would. IMO it is not a situation where he is FORCED to take local kids, it is a situation where the local kids are his best option.
Once Pastner builds HIS brand he will have more leverage as more kids will want to play for him...Because lets be honest...That first class the local kids didn't come to play for Pastner, they came to play AT MEMPHIS.

For sure they wanted to play at Memphis, but Kendrick and Barton were our two highest rated recruits and neither were Memphians. Until Pastner goes to the Sweet 16, he is going to have to take Memphians regardless of whether or not they are a good fit, or if he truly wants them, and yes, regardless of perceived potential future issues.
Pastner backs off of highly non Memphian players all the time.

I have faith that Pastner will GET IT RIGHT as far as advancing deep in the tournament. Dood has done a decent job thus far. I believe in the guy and his abilities, however in order for him to do his business for the MACHINE a lot of internal personality traits need to be recomposed IMO...kinda like an Italian chef that gets hired by a French restaurant, you see.

Yea bust..For as good as he was in college he has been disappointing so far in the nba.
We could argue whether he is a bust or not all day and get no where, but the fact is you don't need nba players to win in the ncaa tourney that had been proven time and time again. Talent is talent is talent
First of all, i didnt say you had to have NBA superstars on your team to win the title, just NBA players. Heyward is an NBA player, period.
Second, yes you can win in the NCAA tournament without NBA players. But it is extremely hard to win 6 in a row. Eventually you are going to run up against a team with one or more Napier type players that you can't stop. Michigan State 2008 is a good example of this. They had a good collection of good talent, they were big, and they were well coached. But they ran up against NBA talent and they could not compete.
This Gordon Hayward NBA thing has always stuck in my craw: his numbers this year (even better that last as I expected):
20 GORDON HAYWARD SG
UTAH JAZZ
FANTASY STATS
OWN% START%
100% 93%
KEY STATS
GP MIN/G PPG REB/G AST/G FG %
4 36.0 18.8 7.2 5.2 48.1
Not bad for a NBA bust!
I wanted to bring you knuckleheads up to date on your ignorance. This post back from Nov 2014 saying Gordon Hayward was a BUST in the NBA. I told you guys how wrong you were. Well, check out his stats since then:
19.3, 19.7 and 22.1 ppg since the year of this discussion. HE IS ALSO AN NBA ALL STAR THIS YEAR. I know basketball talent; wanted to rub it in especially on those who said he was a bust. No mercy anymore.
http://m.espn.com/nba/playerstats?playerId=4249
To stretch back to something that was discussed 3 years ago to prove you were right about a given subject is actually very sad....

How is it sad? He couldn't necessarily have been proven right four years ago. It took a few years for him to be proven right. If I said, "the new Madrid is gonna shake Memphis with a 7.0 earth quake sometime in the next 10 years", and in year 4 it happens, and there were people telling me I was wrong beforehand, I will be sure to point out that I was right.
I've made predictions about how the Big East basketball only conference is eventually going to be included in on the power structure with the power five football conferences. I've been told that I was stupid for suggesting that and that Memphis should have joined it in basketball only. I haven't been proven right yet, but if and when it happens I will be sure to call everyone who told me I was stupid for suggesting it. But it is happening right now. Right under our nose.
