Strange how you never hear Lou Holtz or any other of the college football "experts" say the Fighting Irish doesn't deserve another BCS bowl appearance. NIU has a looong way to go to before they suck as bad ND.
Did you really just compare Notre Dame and NIU in the same sentence? LOL! ND is NIU's wet dream.
All Notre Dame has on NIU is $ and a TV contract. Despite far fewer resources, NIU has built a football program that is eclipsing Notre Dame.
Huskies will be AQ bowling again this year, much to the consternation of the other G5 conferences and some AAC members. How good it feels to be hated, let the hate continue

You've proven my point perfectly. In spite of ND being 0-4 and losing 3 of those by +28pts you think its NIU's "wet dream" to be like them. that's insanity.
the fact that you think its unfathomable to even compare the two teams is what's laughable. And coming from an SDSU fan? Now that's funny.
NIU has had a great season and have a good QB. I don't think it is unfathomable to compare ND & NIU; I think it is laughable. Past, present and future; NIU isn't ,and never will be, comparable to ND. If they were to face ND they would lose 9 times out of 10. I'm saying this and I'm not even a ND fan. Take off the rose colored glasses... or, not, you/we are all FANatics after all.

Don't tell me that NIU can't compete with Notre Dame or that NIU would lose 9 out of 10 because performance on the field this year doesn't bear that out.

Honest question: How many times in the last 10 or 20 years has NIU finished with a higher Sagarin rating than Notre Dame? Sagarin isn't perfect, but it's a system based on game scores, not just on opinions.
This year, NIU blows away Notre Dame, I'm sure. Are there any other years in the last 10 where NIU would beat out Notre Dame?

Honest question: why would games played in the past, with 100% different players and coaches, be any factor whatsoever?
george foreman was a beast! treated smokin joe like a rag doll. foreman fought ken norton and destroyed him. back on topic......it made sense for boise to stay in the mountain west. if there's no more realignment, maybe the long term plan for the american might be to include western teams....like boise and fresno, air force. it would fit much better under the name american instead of big east. i know very unlikely, but depending on the american performance and future value, one never knows.

Fair question, in 2002 NIU won 10 games beating Alabama, Maryland & Iowa State; not sure what ND's record was but good chance NIU's rating was higher that year.
2010 NIU was 11-3 losing to Miami in the MAC title game, beat Fresno State 40-17 in Humanitarian Bowl. ND was 8-5 with a Sun Bowl win over Miami. NIU 45, ND 19, which is a high rating for 5 losses. 2011 NIU was 11-3 with a MAC title and Go Daddy Bowl win over Ark ST. ND was 8-5 with losses to USF, MI, USC, Stanford and in the CHamp Sports bowl to FSU 10-14. NIU finished at 47, ND at 26 ahead of VT, PSU, CIncy, Clemson, BYU & Rutgers who had better records.
In 12 ND5 is clearly ahead of NIU 39, Sagarin has ND at 27 and NIU at 38 which is 10 spots behind an FCS team (eiu) that NIU beat this year. and 13 spots behind Iowa 25, another team that NIU beat. Sagarin also lists the same number of B10 and SEC teams in the top 10 2 each, Alabama, Mizzou, OSU & MSU. So putting stock in Sagarin ratings is not an accurate measure of a program's talent. The top ranked FCS team (NDST) is 22 or ahead of all AAC programs, all ACC programs but FSU & Clemson and all B12 programs but Baylor and OK ST.

NIU can't compete with Notre Dame
San Diego State can't compete with Eastern Illinois University. (19-40)

NIU's OOC schedule next year is
Presbyterian- FCS
Northwestern- 1 Big 10 conference win in 13
UNLV- 7-5 in a weak MWC. UNLV lost to AZ & MN combined 109-36. It's in Vegas and could be the Huskies toughest OOC game
Arky- 0 SEC conference wins in 13
Even without Lynch I don't see NIU losing any of those. Doesn't mean that NIU will have another undefeated season but it would be hard to line up an easier OOC schedule that included both a Big 10 and SEC program and beating even bad SEC & Big Ten programs is huge for a G5 program
Doesn't matter. Just like in the video game all that matters in winning.

BGSU 47 NIU 27
You can't even compete with BGSU let alone ND. I wouldn't be surprised if EIU would beat you as well.
