RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
It's not Mexican but more Spanish mixed with some mystical.

B Tribe - Asturias

Asturias officially the Principality of Asturias is an autonomous community in north-west Spain.

From Wiki:
B-Tribe, or The Barcelona Tribe of Soulsters, is a musical project of the German-born musicians and producers Claus Zundel, Markus Staab and Ralf Hamm ("The Brave"), who are also known for their Sacred Spirit project. Driven by the use of classical Spanish guitar and other elements of flamenco music mixed with trip hop-like ambient tunes. All the albums were recorded in Zundels's own studio on Ibiza, Spain. Spanish musician Paco Fernandez plays guitars and cello parts are performed by Frankfurt Radio Orchestra member Eric Plummetaz.

This song is particularly a favorite chill out of mine. It reminds me more of South American music.

Artist: almost everyone
Song: "Happy Birthday To You"
Songwriter- melody: Mildred Jane Hill
Songwriter- lyrics: Patty Smith Hill
owned by: everyone as of February, 2016

we truly do live in historic times!

Judge: 'Happy Birthday To You' in public domain

Sing freely this year and forevermore, chaps!

Quote:A federal judge has ruled the decades-old copyright claim on the song "Happy Birthday," a claim worth $2 million per year, is invalid.

It may be one of the most widely sung songs in history, and now a federal judge in California is ruling that the "Happy Birthday To You" song belongs in the public domain.

Judge George H. King ruled Tuesday that Warner/Chappell Music does not have a copyright claim to the song even though it purchased a successor to the company that owned the original copyright. King ruled that the original copyright filed by the Summy Co. in 1935 granted only rights to certain arrangements of the music, but not to the song, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Because the Summy Co. never acquired the rights to song's lyrics, Warner/Chappell does not own a valid copyright, the judge ruled.

Warner/Chappell is looking at the court's opinion and exploring options, a company spokesman told The Hollywood Reporter.

A group of filmmakers who are making a documentary about the song filed the claim.

'Happy Birthday' is finally free after 80 years," Randall Newman, lawyer for the plaintiffs, told the Times. "Finally the charade is over. It's unbelievable."

The battle over the ditty began 120 years ago.

The song was written by Kentucky schoolteacher Patty Smith Hill and her sister Mildred Hill. The original lyrics were built around the phrase "good morning to you."

The ruling means that the public may use the song freely and royalties will not go to Warner/Chappell whenever the song is played. Warner/Chappell has made about $2 million a year in royalties from the song, the Times estimates.

Latin music is not complete without some Tejano Music and who else but the legendary Flaco Jimenez. Warning, Flaco does a micro aggression on his own people in this song if you are attuned to that trend and find it insulting. Most of the people down here don't and would wonder what the fuss is about. Note the home town method of record production in this video to include the use of car parts and tools where needed.

everyone always liked to play "Radar Love," but I always enjoyed this one more, here's the live video with the dancers and extended version:

here's the original video, if you prefer, song was written by the band's guitarist George Kooymans, who got the inspiration from a book by Robert Ludlum, The Bourne Identity!

I just heard this one on my Sennheisers while vacuuming the casa. I can't stand that sound so I put the headphones on and go to town.

This song is a mix of everything. But I can just picture it being played at 11 in a damn ghettoassed beach dive somewhere in Colombia where I'd be the only Blanquito in there jamming to it. And I have a worldwide hood pass. Don't ask me why but the brothas have always loved me.

I repeat. This is much better if listened to on headphones. At large volume.

This announcement is bigger than any video share although I will be sharing a video as well.

Yesterday afternoon I became a grandfather for the first time. My oldest son and daughter in law had a baby girl shortly after noon. Nobody knew the sex. They didn't want to find out. I did so we could prepare but they went old school and I wasn't about to hate on that.

Anyhoo they named her Etta Claire. A beautiful name if I say so. They named her Etta after my daughter in law's grandmother. I had to explain to them that there was actually a pretty famous Etta in music.

Etta James - At Last

I've been wanting to be a grandfather for awhile. All my siblings and friends already are and now I'm at the table when it comes to bragging on one.

Though these lyrics are probably meant for a significant other....I think they will work fine for me and Etta Claire. I held her while she slept for about an hour tonight so her mom and dad could nap.

"At Last"

At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

Oh yeah yeah
At last

The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Oh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
for you are mine...

At Last

Piece: "Il Buono, Il Cattivo, Il Brutto"

Composer: Ennio Morricone
Album: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (Film Score)
Piece: "L'estasi dell'Oro"
In Concerto - Venezia 10.11.07)
1967United Artists/ MGM/ Capitol Records

The final scene from the movie features this musical piece. Amazing to see the scene in the movie, but also to see the music performed by full orchesra and chorus. Performed in the magical setting of San Marco's square in Venice and directed by Ennio Morricone himself.

At work, we issued a challenge:

Your favorite tune, by the band you hate the most.
