North Texas had a good run in the early going. Troy has had some good teams as well.

That said the Sun Belt of the last couple of years is much stronger than it has been in the past. And Louisiana is rolling through.

I only modestly followed Sun Belt football before WKU joined it. Are there other teams that could make a case?

Usually this question is asked about an undefeated team.

UK is garbage not even worth mentioning at this point...Navy beat a decent Pitt team and gave Notre Dame all they wanted last week..Lost in OT to a pretty good Toledo team and beat Indiana at Indiana....Wyoming has not played anyone or beaten anyone at this point....Someone mentioned Wake Forest, really? Wake=UK...So I say its either Tulane or Navy best OOC win this season so far...But I think the point has been made in that the Sun Belt really does not have any great OOC wins this season...

I think the intent of this thread is to have WKU's OOC game the "premiere" win of the season.

WKU/Navy - 19-7
Navy/Air Force 28-10
Wyoming/Air Force 56-23
TXST/Wyoming 42-21

^This is a semi-common team comparison but you really can't make that or non-common opponent team comparisons; which you're doing. We've been up and down since that game so I won't call it TXST's either. That was a big win for us regardless and our best OOC win but I'm not going to call it the best in the SBC.

It seems to me that if anyone has a opinion that doesn't include TXST as the best...

CatMom gets her panties in a wad

Nice to see a fight that don't include the Cajuns. I don't care if this team is the best or not I just want us to be labeled the best the conference had this year Outright Conference Champs

any win over a so-called name school is a good win for the conference as far as building our brand goes. the typical fan out there couldnt tell you the won-loss record of any of these teams but they might remember that app beat michigan or txst beat houston or stAte beat ole miss .

RE: Something controversial?
I think the Cajuns barring a slip-up will have a great case for being the best wire-to-wire. The 2012 Red Wolves were pretty average until the 8th game. The 2011 Red Wolves were pretty average until the 7th game. The 2013 Red Wolves have been pretty average until the second half of the 8th game.

Common thread in all? A coach scared to run his QB for lack of a back-up (2011 had a TE as the back-up!) who then turned the QB loose when the season was teetering.

Hud other than the Arkansas game hasn't made a similar mistake this year.

I don't think anyone had a "marquee" win OOC this season, but the closest I would give to USA for beating Tulane. WKU gets a nod just for beating an SEC team (but don't say which SEC team!).

While I think our win over Wyoming was impressive, I think it was impressive because we are in our first full year of FBS. I think the USM win is in the same category, as long as we don't mention it was a win against this or last year's team.

Um, yeah, I think you missed a part of my post there.

I got into it because it was stated us beating a 4-4 Wyoming was no big deal. At the time they were 2-1 with a 3 pt loss to Nebraska.
Nobody knows how another teams' season will play out that early.

Don't get so pissed off because I'm defending my team. Everyone does. That's why they call us fans. We're not world beaters, yet. But we haven't had much to defend recently. If we end up 6-6 it's a huge improvement from year 1. (and most of our FCS years.)

Yet? TXST will never be world beaters. I think you guys peaked early this season.

No doubt the toughest part of our schedule is about to hit however, I was referencing for the future; not just this season.

STFU. TxSt and its fans are some of the biggest [non-Cajun] supporters of our program. Show a little respect. The Bobcats are competitive in the conference now, they just did not match up well with UL. Nor do I believe they match up well with stAte, but I am not going to disrespect them by saying they can never compete. Nor should you.

I have to agree with you on this one. Texas State has already shown that they will be a force to be reckon with, not only in the Belt, but in the FBS period. I like to pick on the Bobcat fans, but only because they are worth picking on. I'm so glad that they have joined our conference...I can't say that about all of the recent additions.

I'm just hoping that we give y'all the kind of game we're capable of . . after the way you took down ULM, I'm a little more nervous about this one . . . especially since I'm not certain "which Bobcat Team" will show up in Jonesboro. IF Fran will open up the offense, then I think we'll give y'all a game . . . looking forward to Saturday . . . GO CATS! GO SBC!

Exactly, we pick on Texas State out of love.

Bobcats will be scary good if their QB only gets better over the next four years. He's got Terrance Broadway/Ryan Aplin type speed. If he figures out the arm...watch out.

THe simple fact that they are even competing for a bowl this year is good enough, and ought to be something that Georgia Southern and App State fans should take notice in. There is nothing saying a new team cannot be competitive in the SBC from day 1.

The longest dominating stretch is Troy from 2006 to 2010 when they went 9-4, 8-4, 8-5, 9-4, and 8-5. They went 2-2 in bowl games in that span. ULL is the only school to get 9 wins two years in a row with a solid chance for three straight years.

THAT'S the Troy teams to which I was referring. I've lived outside the States for a number of years now but recall when checking in on college football from time to time seeing that this previously-unknown (to me) team was knocking off some pretty stout competitors in D-1. Just the other night I learned that their coach has been there for decades. I like that kind of committment to a team, a university, a city, etc. Reminds me of Beryl Shipley with Cajun basketball.

As I mentioned in another thread, he may not be as committed as he is unwanted by programs who value their integrity. By the way I was a Cajun fan that was willing to overlook that blemish on his record at Auburn.

Our athletic director had pretty much wrapped up the guy for UL when Dean Blanco convinced the Fossil AKA, Dr. Authement to hire Jerry Baldwin. It took a decade to recover from that humiliation, but Dean Blancos wife did pretty well winning a governorship. She was exposed as a pencil pusher when Katrina hit.

CatMom gets her panties in a wad

you are the only one making this about your team....not the WKU fan

Nice to see a fight that don't include the Cajuns. I don't care if this team is the best or not I just want us to be labeled the best the conference had this year Outright Conference Champs

any win over a so-called name school is a good win for the conference as far as building our brand goes. the typical fan out there couldnt tell you the won-loss record of any of these teams but they might remember that app beat michigan or txst beat houston or stAte beat ole miss .

Only Cajun and TAMU fans recall Jake Delhomme and the Cajuns taking down a top 25 TAMU team at Cajun Field. The young students acted like they had never been there, well actually they never had or have since, and pulled the goal post down like a million little ants.

Interesting story was the next year Texas offered us a large sum of money for the goal post as they wanted to stick it in TAMU's face. I am glad we said no thanks.

So you think people remember things and sometimes they do but for the most part your record is your resume.

I think last seasons Sun Belt was better...We are lacking on OOC wins...Whats the best OOC win Sun Belt has this season?...Just a guess but WKU's win over Navy probably best OOC win by far for Sun Belt...All of us mostly laid an egg in OOC this year...

ULM beat wake forest and they might have a shot at a bowl game.

More likely ULM peaks at five wins, and will not see a six win season the rest of the decade.

Y'all really, really suck without a healthy Browning, and he may be playing but he is not healthy. Maybe he will be this week and down the road.

Ha, you get it my man, especially about TooLame.

Yes South is very much a improved team and I absolutely believe they are capable of beating any team in the league even if said team is having a good day.

The Cajuns will have to play extremely well to win in Mobile, but we will have to play well to beat Ga St, and ULM as well.

You do realize the football gods are no longer gracing TooLame with wins because of the other teams screw ups. They are currently in a 2 game losing streak. They will be lucky to win one more. And Navy is heading downwards, this is Army's year. LOL Of course it is not Army's year, it is hardly ever Army's year.

How is that Navy win going to look after South takes them down? Navy a lower level SBC team that is how it will look.
