It seems the presidents are against Liberty and would rather stay at 11 than invite them. JMU and Missouri St. better think hard on this opportunity. It is a very real possibility there is 1 seat left at the FBS table-- the 12th SunBelt team.

So you probably don't have anything to worry about. But who knows what the SB
presidents will do.
Why do you not want them so badly, you guys will leave the SB before they could get in?
Old state rivals?

We have been in the Sun Belt most of my life, I would hope the Sun Belt could do better than Eastern...Will still root for SB as long as our CUSA teams are not playing you guys...They used to be rivals about 20 years ago, but much like MTSU, its been mainly a one side rivalry in basketball...EKU dominated in football until the 90s when we started beating them reguarly in football..

Bet they don't. Bet they went to 14 to appease TV.

No shock to me. I've said before that JMU would be a deal buster. Adding JMU doesn't fix the UAB issue and the UAB issue isn't his problem

Who knows, you may never see them in FBS.
Unless you see them in next week.
Which is doubtful probably.

In the Winston-Salem paper today it talks about Appalachian administrators going to the SB meetings which start Sunday in Destin, Fla this comment appears:

It seems Karl Benson, the Sun Belt’s commissioner, said that he expects any announcement involving Sun Belt membership would happen next Wednesday when the meetings wrap up.s if any SB announcement is made it will come next Wednesday.

With payouts capped at 12 members, it will be much harder to support expanding beyond 12. Adding more is taking money out of your pocket.

I would assume since we are not actually in the SB until July 1 of next year that we will have no real voting rights as to new members at this point.

Pretty sure you will. Karl told both of us that we would on matters that affect the future of the conference remember.

I think now that JMU is def off the table for the upcoming round, a few of the Presidents will take a second look at LU. Do they want to be the only FBS conference without a Championship game? And then there is the looming possibility of a moratorium on movement. Add to that the dollars foraC'ship game and 1 or 2 fence sitters may be swayed.

I agree. The ACC's GOR agreement changed everything for everybody. If CUSA is going to go to 16, I wish they'd go ahead and do it already. If they're not, then I wish they'd come out and definitively state that they have no intentions of expanding. We're all sick of the realignment roller coaster we've been on.

JMU is not off the table at all, regardless how much you wish it to be true.

Sorry man, it's just not gonna happen.

We're not off the table. Not even close....if nothing is happening after 7/1, THEN people can start down that road. We're not leaving a couple million on the table with 45 days to go. Sorry!

Hope - Sounds half Obamaish.
Now if Change could be added - SB presidents might bite.
Good luck to LU. Got to say, your fans really want it.

I may not be in favor of LU -
but have to say would laugh myself sick about JMU's administration
causing them to miss out so easily and them staying FCS and LU being FBS.
Particularly if JMU didn't get into FBS for years due to 12 maximum conference money.

The AJC's Doug Roberson made a good point via Twitter: "... As for Liberty, my take is the Flames may have financial resources that may be considered unfair by the other schools. That's just my opinion."
