There is no guarantee that there will be a 12th.

Plus the SBC could still be losing two schools

There is only one guarantee. No #12 this year.

Please don't start stoking that flame again. Just deal with being in the Sun Belt until you actually have an invite.

I think we're done 'til next spring. From a football standpoint, I'd say the SBC and CUSA are a wash in terms of strength post-realignment. Old Dominion is the best addition CUSA made.

RE: June 1st is looming large on the horizon!
I don't see a 12th team being added by June 1. Just joined this board recently but have been reading now for several months. Here is what I have learned from the posts on here:

1. James Madison and Missouri St. will not commit by June 1 of this year. There is a chance, especially with regard to Missouri St., that they may be willing to commit by June 1 of 2014.
2. The membership of this conference is simply not going to vote to add Liberty, even though they are very willing to join the SB.
3. Jacksonville St. is opposed by Troy and South Alabama to one degree or another and it seems doubtful at this time that Jacksonville St. has the support to get an invite.
4. Any Southland team such as Sam Houston St. or Lamar is not supported for membership by the western members of the SunBelt.

So the SunBelt is stuck at 11 for now.

It's once every other year at the most. Is it really that big of a deal?

At least you don't have to send olympic sports there.

If Missouri State will not join before June 1st, believe Benson will have Eastern Kentucky join.

I'd say the chances are about 50-50 the MAC or SBC throws a lifeline to another FCS program.

The MAC is entertaining discussions to reopen its TV deal with ESPN so I would not be shocked to see a late add of Delaware or JMU.

Just a hunch or did you hear that? EKU has solid football and would be good for App geographically but I thought I'd heard they were not ready financially for an FBS move.

RE: June 1st is looming large on the horizon!
With Bankowsky talking 16 I believe that he and likely a significant majority of presidents like the concept of 16 but there aren't two schools that 11 members agree on. Big XII got vapor-locked like that having enough votes for Louisville but not enough for #12. They violated smart conference management rule 1.03.B. "If you have the chance to add quality, you add it, even if it creates a goofy schedule mess." The Big 10 did that with Penn State and it took a long time to find a #12 they could agree on.

As to JMU or Missouri State, I think it is adequately clear now that if either is coming that May 31 is not the magic date. If either is coming, the date to watch is June 30. An announcement between June 1 and June 30 permits them to enter for the 2014-15 academic year in every sport except football and allows them to compete in either MVCF or CAAF in 2013 and 2014 doing transition year 1 in 2014, and play a Sun Belt schedule in 2015 being bowl eligible in 2016.

Yep, if JMU and Mo. St. want to play FBS and get a jump on recruiting they will announce between June 1 and June 30. The way these things have been going, we may not get any sense of who is coming until right before it is announced.

Do we know if either of these schools has declared FBS intentions to the NCAA? If they haven't, they can't accept an invite yet.
