RE: OOC home games
What we always used to hear was how nobody wanted to come play WMU and leave with a loss.

I think it has more to do with those that work on making the schedules up there are either too lazy or to easily persuaded to take the road games than figure out how to host a few games.

As it stands now, I barely even remember we have a team playing here anymore since they've played what 2 home games in about 7 weeks. THAT is ridiculous.

And now they just expect people to start showing up and filling the UA because its time for MAC play? STUPID!!!!

RE: OOC home games
I think the scheduling has a lot to do with why students don't show up to the games. When I attended as a student from 2007-12 there were always students at the first couple games and people I would talk to would be excited about the season. By MAC play, those same students would have no idea when the games were because there was such a gap between home dates. It's tough to maintain a level of excitement about the program among students when your first several home games are very spread out or held when class isn't in session.

I'm not saying we need to buy seven home games this year, but five WHILE CLASS IS IN SESSION would be a nice number to shoot for. There were times when I attended WMU that there would be five or six home games, but three would be during Thanksgiving or Christmas break. Two months into the season with most students only having the chance to see the team play 2-3 times? Kind of hard to get excited about that.

RE: OOC home games
I have no insight into the philosophy or finances of our Basketball scheduling.

I just wonder if the size of our arena is a hindrance in getting teams to Kalamazoo.

The BIG key to what you posted here. .....WHILE CLASS IS IN SESSION..... For whatever reason it seems like every single year, after being on the road for a few weeks, there is finally a home game scheduled for the weekend that students leave for holiday break. Or the weekend they leave on spring break.

You are right on that it seems like a decent group of students often come out early in the season and then completely lose interest. I also think that the Saturday bball attendance might be a direct reflection of the hockey teams success. As students are more interested and excited to go to Lawson on a Friday or Saturday evening than they are to go to the UA on Saturday afternoon.

We played several games against Michigan GLIAC teams (D-II) but stopped about 20 years ago.
