Our past president just about killed us athletically.. 25 years ago we were considered the same level on the playing field..In fact I believe we lead the series.. Half assed administration with 0 vision held us back.. That being said your buddy needs to realize that CUSA was Sunbelt ***** this year... come off of that high horse..

Agreed but it's not about academic pride rather than football. Traditionally the top half of C-USA is better than the top half of the Sun Belt. East Carolina and Southern Miss clearly had and are having on field issues.
The game will be a blast, honestly I'd love to have seen it be La. Tech in that game, it would've sold out.

If you're referencing the N.O. Bowl, LaTech wouldn't have approached the tickets the Cajuns sold.

I just can't believe there aren't 10,000 ECU fans willing to travel to New Orleans for gluttony, intoxication and the chance to have their photo taken by the Pirate Alley sign.

Whoa, you have been sold a bill of goods or else you are sadly mislead.. La Tech would not have sold anywhere near the tickets UL sells. Their attdce is not up to par with UL... They do have leadership that has been pushing CUSA admission since 2005, so props to them.. Then again, how smart can they be? Leaving 31 seniors with no bowl game isnt my idea of being brilliant... I can see why they wanted to avoid ULM, though..

ECU does travel well and averages around 50k at home...But this game is the weekend right before christmas and New Orleans is about a 14 hour drive for most of them. A flight would be a few houndread bucks which is hard to come by around the holidays for many.

I just dont see anymore than 10k ECU fans at this game. But there will surly be more ECU fans than San Diego State fans..

My prediction is 52K at this game.

39k UL fans. 10k ECU fans and 3k General public who would probably still be rooting for UL

I don't think there will be many more than 5k ECU fans. I know we have donated a few thousand tickets to local military bases through our tickets for troops campaign, and we're going to provide the first thousand troops ECU shirts to wear. My guess is around 5k ECU fans, 2 or 3k of donated tickets, and the rest will be ULL supporters.

Theres a difference in bowls and season there. They also may have been playing a SEC opponent in that bowl...

I went to the Tulane vs. Rust-on game back in 98 and they had about 17,000 fans there. I didn't have anything better to do and the tickets were free. That was the year Tulane went undefeated with Tommy Bowden and finished #7 in the coutnry.

Tech might bring 20,000 - 25,000 but that would be it.

I wasn't saying we were AQ, I was comparing why we brought more to the Liberty Bowl than we will Saturday. In all 4 Liberty Bowls we played AQ teams, which in general will excited our fan base more than playing a non-AQ team, even a very good one. It's more related to the date of the game and the cost to get out there than the opponent.

Tech has never had 25k for a home game and never sold 20k for a bowl.

THere probably will be 10K. We're smart about our ticket buying though. There will certainly be more Pirates there than our official sold alotment suggests. FWIW, this bowl does fall at a bad time for traveling that far. Anyway.... good luck.
