How about a ninety percent pure shooter, only slightly contaminated? So does a pure shooter get certified "pure"? 03-drunk

DK, Mark Brown, and Levi Rost all come under the heading of pure shooters. Stauskas for scUM falls in the catagory. Nitzel was a pure shooter. Brad Redford was a pure shooter. Bader at Oakland is a pure shooter. Erik Kangas of Oakland was a driveway jumpshooter who never attended a camp. He was a pure shooter. For those of you who were at last years Miami game. They had a freshmen named Brian Sullivan. He went 6-9 from three, got off his shot at will, and was making them like lay ups. Totally pure shooter. Luckily he transferred.

When we need a bucket, there's nothing down low, and we see Clutch, Richie, or Pokley let one fly, you know we're all going..........."Please please please go in."

Good teams have one of those guys who is money on open looks. We don't and haven't for a long time.

Stauskas may be the best pure shooter as a frosh in college that I've ever seen.

He is seriously sick. Probably is their best frosh. Legit NBA talent.

There is a rumor going around that Michigan does a 3 point drill that requires their player to shoot and make as many 3's in a 5 minute time frame as possible. I've heard multiple people say that he his something like 80+ in that drill.

To give you a reference point, I also heard that WMU has a similar drill that goes for 10 minutes. Pokley hit 120 or so in 10 minutes....which is unbelievable in itself.

I wouldn't expect anything else from a 3_____ coached team.

I have a feeling that has the season goes on and Poke gains more confidence he is going to become our go to shooter.

from Hawkins' Facebook:

Took one on the chin last night against a very good Michigan team. Lots of great things to take away though that will help us get better. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take! Proud of how hard our guys played. Michigan showed us how far we have to go execute at a level where we can compete with a Final 4 caliber team.

RE: Michigan game thread
For me, we played OK for 10-12 minutes. Two early fouls on Whittington was hard to overcome. BIG refs put the game away early. I liked the offense execution early, we got the ball inside consistently. If Hazel is eligible, if we can get him the ball within 6 feet of the basket I can guarantee you it will go in the hole.

Not so good, a failure of composure as the game progressed. I disagree about "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take" in that over-matched setting. We started running down the court and hacking up the ball. The better course is to continue to run the offense, use clock, and look for a high percentage shot. My wisdom would be "the other team can't score when we have the ball. "

We still lose, but keep the differential closer.

So, UM makes a $92 MILLION investment in facilities? Including an 80,000 square foot "player development center". Commentator says that helps with recruiting. You think?

It is impressive.

And the disparity is unbelievable.

Most of their fans certainly consider that to be part of their financial planning...

RE: Michigan game thread
Sorry, I'm late to the party on this one.

Stauskus reminds me of JJ Redick when he showed up at Duke. The second he crossed mid court he was in range and just buried 3 after 3.

The biggest difference from the handful of UofM games I have seen this year is tha Stauskus can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Redick finally started to figure that out his senior year.

This UofM team is LEGIT. They bring players in waves and with the 3 or 4 freshman making a huge impact they are very deep.
