At What Point Does Football Get Banned?
The answer may turn out to be never; but who knows? These studies are a tip of the iceberg, and I have no doubt that the more studies they conduct; the more they are going to be able to conclude that football causes brain damage at an early age. 33 out of the 34 deceased football players that were examined, had brain damage.

More likely, when high schools start dropping it. I'd expect that children would be the first who are barred from participating in such a gladiatorial sport.

I think that will be the eventual death nail. Although I think it'll be more parents will start pushing their kids to other sports and then the talent pool will dry up and football will end up like heavyweight boxing.

I'll be graduating from U of M law in 3 years so hopefully that'll become a windfall like the tobacco cases were. God knows the NFL and the owners have plenty of money...

Requiring that all teams incorporate a Tommy West/Joe Lee Dunn style of defense would cut out a lot of the injuries.

I met the Knoxville-based attorney that headed up the tobacco case for Tennessee in Destin. He owned the top floor of the condo building where we rented. Kids had Hummers in both Knoxville and Destin. He flew in for lunch several times during those two weeks--on his jet, of course. Nice family.

Yeah, that post gets made every so often...and it's as much garbage now as it was the first time I saw it. Concussions were still happening, just going unreported.

RE: At What Point Does Football Get Banned?
The problem lies with the pro ranks IMO. The game is too fast and everyone is freaky strong in the NFL. I looked at the study and I felt like they did not necessarily look at a good control population; however, to get permission to dissect someone's brain is not easy. It would be interesting if they did a much larger scale study that enrolled people's brain strictly on specific sport participation. The highschooler brains that showed damage were from either freak accidents on the football field or suicide cases. I would be interested in seeing the overall trend as you can pick and choose cases sometimes to get your statistics right.
