And if that's the case then Memphis might get a call too once more teams are taken. Come on Big 12, make that next big move!

The Big 12 can pretty much pick and choose whoever isn't in the Pac 12, Big 10, or SEC at this point. Why would they go after Memphis over any current Big East, ACC, or MWC team right now?

I was talking about the ACC. But the Big 12 has to raid them first to make that happen. If ACC loses enough teams to Big 10 and Big 12 or even SEC, then they almost have no choice by default to add Memphis.

I'm beyond the point of ruling anything out, but it seems like it would take a lot of teams to leave the ACC before Memphis would have a snowball's chance. It's reasonable to expect that UConn, Louisville, Cincinnati, USF, and possibly Temple are further ahead in line than Memphis. That means that five teams would have to jump ship from the ACC before Memphis is in. At that point, you're jumping from one sinking conference to another. I don't know if that's cause to celebrate.

How could we have missed the soccer clue?

It is very important to the ACC and to Louisville and Notre Dame. 07-coffee3

You know it. I hear the ACC is in negotiations with the University of Brazil, Sao Paulo to replace Maryland.

This might make the most sense for the ACC. I firmly believe we're headed to 4/16 or 5/15 super-conferences. The ACC isn't going to poach anyone from the SEC/B1G/B12, so they might as well put together the best conference they can with that in mind.

Unfortunately, what your proposed setup doesn't account for is Notre Dame. They can't stay independent if super-conferences are inevitable. Maybe they stay with the ACC, maybe they go elsewhere. Until the ACC knows, they won't go to 16 teams.

Our top insider has said ACC wasn't an option until recently and the soccer stadium has been in the works for a year or two now. I think they're unrelated. I'm also not so sure Louisville ends up anywhere but the Big East.

Well if they wait for ND they will end up just like the Big East.

Why? They can have their choice of UConn, Louisville, UC, etc... whenever they want. If they move to superconferences, ND is the biggest prize left on the table and it has one foot in the ACC's door already.

Notre Dame will do whatever Notre Dame damn well pleases. They will ALWAYS allow ND to be a part of any type of upper division mix.

I'm unable to listen to this right now, but did Ramsey actually say that he didn't think Louisville would get into the ACC? If he actually said that publicly, then that tells me that UConn to the ACC is all but a done deal. There's no way that he would be commenting at all on the ACC (or even giving an interview about conference realignment overall) if Louisville was in discussions with them and/or thought the school had a real chance.

Yes sorry for the double negative there....typing to quickly on a day like today.

Meant to say, that our president said it wouldn't be because of UL's academics that we would be passed up by ACC. It would be because of what we all know...tv markets

1. Did not deny Rutgers leaving......I know we haven't heard the same board of regents meeting announced like we've already seen Maryland have, but if Rutgers was not legit news he would have denied it.

2. With the western football only schools, was asked about the report they were talking again with MWC.....he replied that SDst president said they were still staying, but then he followed that up with saying that being football only schools it has always been a bit unstable (paraphrasing) So to me that doesn't sound good

3. For UL, didn't hear anything from him that sounded like something was going to break soon. Didn't think we would not get in to ACC do to problems with academics, and strongly denied that as an issue....still just comes down to tv markets.

TCU said all the right things too and then wound up getting married to the Big12. Just better to wait and see how it all falls out for all schools involved. Depending on how things break....it may or may not matter if BSU and SDSU join the BigEast.

Strange Days....

What, the one the Metro wanted to do 20+ years ago? if that ends up coming true than UL and UC really have come full circle.

It's a tossup at the moment. Stalemate, temporarily. Coin toss,. UL or UConn to the ACC? But if the ACC keeps getting raided, then it won't matter.
