RE: In the defense of the University of Houston
How can this be?
$450 Million for a stadium renovation?
That's impossible...as one fan on here kept trying to tell everyone the other day that EVERYONE will have the same facilities as each other.
The move to the SEC will payoff BIG TIME for A&M in booster donations and 103,500 seat stadium. (May not get them many wins...but their fans are loyal, REALLY loyal...and love that they are not in UT's conf anymore).

Yes, the idea that the far more money the SEC will get under the new system will not further expand their facilities advantage over the big east was maybe the dumbest idea of the week.

Perhaps I'm missing something but I see little difference in what UH is facing compared to most of our programs. It's a big part of what routinely makes us the little guy in the big fight.

Nice! I like a little fire in the belly!
UH may be down this year, but that doesn't mean they'll be down every year. Last year I was excited about being in the same conference as UH. Just because they are down this year hasn't made that excitement any less for me!!!

RE: In the defense of the University of Houston
Texas football this, Texas football that. Sorry, but the state of Florida annihilates Texas at the college level (unless you want to really dig into the past). Since 1980, Florida has had three teams take home a total of 10 national titles (1983, 1987 1989, 1991, 1993, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2008). Texas has produced one lone champion in that time (2005).
I'm mildly joking. I do understand how big the other programs are around you, and UCF/USF fans can surely relate to that.

Waddeva...within 90 minutes we have UK, UL, IU, OSU...mix in X and all the MAC schools....oh and 2 billion in new stadiums for the Reds and Bengals. If you are an urban university, you get used to competition for media coverage and entertainment dollars in your market or you don't. It's not that uncommon. Deal with it and stop wringing your hands.

Sorry, you'll need to provide some sources for your claim of other $450 million college stadiums. Sorry, but forgive me if I wring my hands over Texas A&M ability to raining on UH's new $160 million stadium.

For a dozen reasons, no SMU fan would ever call Houston small-time. I still hate Houston for trying to score 100 on SMU back in 1989 (the year after the death penalty). But I know Houston belongs in a major conference. To argue against that is foolish.

Florida had only three 1-A programs. Texas had ten. The talent in Texas was more diluted at the college level.

RE: In the defense of the University of Houston
Appreciate the comments UConn-SMU, but UH doesn't deserve a defense this year. We need to start winning games again like we have been for the past six years. UH won 54 games in that six-year period and was ranked in the Top 25 three times. We'll get back to that, hopefully sooner than later.

Florida had only three 1-A programs. Texas had ten. The talent in Texas was more diluted at the college level.
Florida also had significantly lower overall population and that doesn't add in the fact that Florida has one of the lowest per capita student ratios in the nation due to the obscene number of retirees. The simple fact is, Florida produces *FAR* more talent per player than Texas.
And the point is that we here in Florida can relate more than most to what Houston has to deal with.
