It would satisfy our bowl want in a warm weather climate on NYD, it's a guaranteed bowl tie in like the ACC, it doesn't leave us pandering and if a BE team was supposed to go to the Orange bowl we can tell the ACC to suck it. Why cant we do the same thing the ACC just did? Part of the reason the BE has problems is cause of reactivity.
Does UCF have any pull with that bowl? I ask because Memphis has a good relationship with the Liberty bowl and leverages it, so I was wondering if UCF could do the same.
A little, but it's definitely a fractured relationship. Florida Citrus Sports runs the Citrus Bowl (although the venue is owned by the City of Orlando) and every event in it, including both college bowl games, the Florida Classic, and the FHSAA Championships. UCF used to play in the Citrus Bowl and paid to lease it from FCS. When FCS announced that UCF would have to play somewhere else for a year (or two) while the Citrus Bowl was to be renovated, UCF decided to build their own on-campus stadium. UCF's departure somewhat severed those ties (although there are a few UCF grads on the FCS board). UCF turned down a FCS-sponsored idea to have a USF/UCF game at the Citrus Bowl for 2012 because it would have taken away a home date for UCF. As a result of these actions UCF isn't the absolute best of terms with FCS, but there are some connections that exist. I would think that they could be repaired.

They also wanted UCF to foot the bill for some of those renovations. The UCF and USF game they wanted to sponsor we also would have had to split the revenue in a manner which didn't make sense. The Citrus bowl was basically trying to strongarm UCF but I think they'd make nice if the BE offered a bcs bowl type deal vs an at large.

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. I don't put much stock in any message board, but as far as UH boards go, it's by far the most popular. That doesn't make it the best, but it likely means some of those posters know what they're talking about. I don't get into the weeds enough to compare post counts to credibility. I don't know. It seems like a pretty typical college message board to me. Maybe you have reasons for a different opinion.
I do. It's a bonafied carnival of d-bags.

Cap One Bowl is played in the Citrus Bowl? And didn't Orlando just announce some major dollars towards upgrading the Citrus Bowl? Coincidence??? I swear, it really does look like someone, somewhere, just might have a plan.
Seriously, any kind of BCS tie in would be huge and elevate the conference, but for the western teams sake a split deal might be better. We'll just have to see what happens...
