Obviously, working with NBC (assuming that who becomes our primary carrier and I think most believe they will be) and Fed Ex is clearly our best chance to land quality bowl placements for our champion in the years they fail to reach the playoff.....and people wonder why we took Memphis...jezzzzzzzz

I think the optimists are over-selling this, and the pessimists are under-selling it, as usual on both sides. The truth is likely in the middle, but it sounds very encouraging.

RE: Taken from Coogfans.com
If true, we would basically have a guaranteed tie-in except for 5 out of every 12 years (same as the ACC)...assuming that the Rose and Champions bowls get their way and only have to host the playoff 2 out of every 12 years. This is the reason they don't want to host 4 times out of 12 years, because every time you host, you don't get your tie-in....unless you send a team to the playoff. So most years, the SEC will likely get one playoff spot and one Champions Bowl spot. Nevertheless, I would be extremely happy if this comes to pass.

If they can secure rights to a major BCS-type bowl and tie-in the Big East. Then the Big East becomes an "AQ" conference again, of sorts and thus the recruiting remains at an "AQ" level and the money remains at an "AQ" level. Our schools can get very strong with a situation like this and get very very good!!

Plus...ESPN would be PISSED!!

The Big East is already a fine wine, but with a new and improved taste that has yet to hit the market. 04-cheers

The guy that posted that gets less **** right than Terry Bradshaw. I would fade that information and head to the bank.

You mean the new "FED EX CITRUS BOWL"? 03-shhhh Just kidding. I do too! Being in Orlando would be huge for both UCF and USF!! Even the West Coasters wouldn't mind a trip to O-town. It'd be great!

I've been to Orlando several times. It is a great road trip. 04-cheers

The Big East can borrow the Memphis mantra......"Come on Fred Smith" followed by a "Thank you."

holiday would be nice, but cap one would be huge.
But it would mean supplanting a potentially very high sec or b10 pick.
The BE could never do that in the past there.

The best situation I can reasonably expect is a floating bid between the orange and fiesta and some criterion, like top10 in the nBCS formula.

Louisville already has a weird quandary with Papa John's and Yum!(Pizza Hut.) So that got me wondering: which of the two do Louisville fans feel more obligated to support?

Want to know what's even weirder? With all the cross balancing of sponsors, you can buy Papa John's pizza inside the YUM Center.

I don't think most fans feel a duty to support one over the other, but if push came to shove the Papa has certainly put his money where his mouth is for UofL athletics.

Yum is also Taco Bell and KFC. So they both work, lol.

RE: Taken from Coogfans.com
Just the possibility that this may be true has made my weekend.

I heard Bailey's dull stint of an interview on Sirius XM College Sports today, and was discouraged badly.

This post turned it around, and by the way, seems more plausible than the gloom and doom of earlier this week.

Swofford was interviewed too, and was coddled by hosts, to my disgust.

However, it was cool to hear the pundits (Jack Arud sp?) suggesting how if he was our commissioner how he would try and convince Notre Dame they should be seriously considering Big East football membership as best road to playoffs.

He came right out and said Syracuse and Pitt would regret defection if ND came in football. Wonder if a four way deal including BYU could be achieved with concessions on third tier etc.

Dreaming maybe, but love concept.
