RE: Latest Pictures of Texas State Bobcat Stadium
We can't use the moniker TSU. Texas Southern fought for that and it was a deal made as a part of the name change. Thats why TXST is used.

In Official correspondence you first use Texas State University - San Marcos. After that, just Texas State.

Fans prefer just Texas State and even ESPN has been asked to use TXST.

There is no other Texas State in the TSUS so it's really not necessary to add San Marcos. They had hoped, when SWT was renamed, to change a couple others to Texas State University-Wherever, but those schools nixed that really fast.

Those schools may change their minds in time. TSU-Nacogdoches, TSU-Huntsville, etc, etc,

3 TSU's in Texas:

TSU: Tarleton State U
TSU: Texas Southern U
TSU-SM: Texas State-San Marcos--yall still need to change your
mascot to "Armadillos", though.

I'll still take our Apogee (and the real estate its own between 2 Texas interstates) over a patchwork quilt add-on stadium. The track? We've been there--done that with ol' Fouts Field and surely TSU-SM's track is nowhere close to being the kind of football stadium track which created such a distance between the football field and the stands at Fouts. For your sakes, I hope not.

TSU-SM, we will gladly let yall have the state of Texas to yourselves as the SBC's lone Lone Star State football school. We will officially pass that torch to yall after this Fall.

Upside: I do think Coach Fran will do a good job there in San Marcos if he decides to unpack his suitcase and stick around long enough, but how old is this guy now? He desparately wanted the North Texas job last time he was at (then) SWT when we made yet another bone-head move and hired Dennis Parker.
Good point. So the "Texas State University" name is owned by the Texas State University System? I guess you could add Texas St Univ-Beaumont if Lamar decides to go that route and change their name. This could get really confusing. Too boilerplate for me.

Again, nice stadium upgrade.

So you read this thread? Now you call us TSU and act like you aren't digging. I have talked with a few UNT fans that I like but I have to be honest most of you act like you are a lot more than you really are.

I have yet to understand why anyone gets riled up about any name.

They call us TSUSM? Fine, they look like the petty, childish buffoons.
They want to call us TSU? Whatever man, just shows how little they know.
At the end of the football game, odds are good they'll end up calling us the winner.

WOW that stadium is nice. I thought UNT had the best stadium in the Sun Belt, but this one takes the cake. Aesthetically it looks great, and I like how it is closed in with an endzone building. Very nice Bobcats... glad to have you guys in the SBC.

RE: Latest Pictures of Texas State Bobcat Stadium
Stadium looks good. I like the theme throughout. The endzone seats look closer than the sideline seats where they come together. Is that just the perspective or is that accurate?

I had no idea Bobcat fans took offense to not being referred to as TXST. I thought TSU-SM made sense since there were a couple. TXST makes sense too. My bad. I am/was ignorant to that, but, not having had to know that before, I can see where others are too. There are a couple of former Southwest Texas State players I know of that weren't very happy about the change to Texas State, Texas State - SM, whatever you want, just because they essentially played for a school and got a piece of paper from a school that "doesn't exist anymore". Their words not mine. I mentioned Texas State in a conversation, and they stopped me and said, "It'll always be Southwest Texas State."

It shouldn't be considered a dig. Some fans are just sensitive to stupid things. Our fans too, for some reason think North Texas State is a dig. I know plenty of alumns who are also not happy that they dropped the "State" off our name, because essentially, the school printed on the degree no longer exists. In reality it doesn't matter and I don't necessarily thing it makes people idiots, it just means they knew of the school by a different name. Not a big deal.

It used to matter to me but really doesn't anymore. Those UNT fans out there that have been around the TXST/SWT forums for a while certainly do it for a reason. May not be you but the conversation has been the topic enough for most to call BS on it. Just ask your fellow alum that probably wont reply to your post.

A hair under 31,000, with room for another 2000-3000 standing room only on the Wing Zone Plaza Area. (Note: the standing room only plaza area is just me thinking it could be used for that purpose. Not sure if we could "officially" use it for an overflow of fans.)

There was apparently a fire at Bobcat stadium today.

Anybody have details on that?

I'm curious where you got that information. I live a few blocks from the stadium and I haven't heard any fire trucks and there haven't been any campus alerts that I'm aware of.

An hourly check of the construction camera shows no visible fires at all.

I saw the video and went by there to see for myself. I don't think it was a fire perhaps equipment putting out black smoke.

I saw it on twitter. There was even a little video and somebody called the fire department. I saw smoke in the video but I couldn't tell what the source was.

Embarrassed? Hardly. You do know that our mascot has been the Eagle since the beginning of time. I think our end zone "wing" is very unique. Not like the mini Rose Bowl "copy cat" rendition end zone you guys now boast. Some call it classic, I call it......mini copy cat end zone. Sounds good.03-lmfao

Have I mentioned recently your stadium is really nice?

Okay, I think it would be good to bring a measure of moderation to this discussion. It was a silly observation to bring up "wings" to a stadium. I get it.

But to reply with another infantile post makes both of you look silly. I am a fan of Texas State. However, I don't wish ill upon UNT. I hope you do well in C-USA. It's where you want to be. Great! Have fun, do well, exit the Sunbelt gracefully.

Does anyone take the high road anymore? In the long run you will come out better for it.

Agree. You should direct a "message blast" at those Tx State fans that create all of this ill will and disrespect. Be thankful UNT is moving from the Sun Belt next year or Tx State would be stuck in purgatory known as the WAC, along with Idaho and New Mex State. Welcome to the Sun Belt; enter it with class like the fine programs you are joining.
