Another blog on the same Andy Katz article? Oh gee whiz. We don't know when Jurich said that to the BOD. It could be from December for crying out loud!

RE: Jurich To The Big East: We Want Out (Link)
based on TommyC2's comment wa-a-a-ay back on the first page, I've modified his choices:

1. Cincinnati (dunno)
2. BYU (prolly not)
3. Boise State (-100%)

I have other theories, but they're wacky and would require alignment of universal forces more elaborate than the relatively simple matter of this week's powerball numbers.

Of course we want out.....Football is important to us and its obvious if you are not in one of the fab five conferences then you might as well pack it up.....The new TV contact money will have to be split up with to many members in the NBE and alot of those members don't deserve it because they lack a fan base and lack TV veiwers. Hate me.

Is there another school in the nation that has begged, unsuccessfully, more than Louisville? ECU comes close, but i think Louisville in the past 6 months is gaining ground in the "beyotching over our lot" department. Deloss Dodds probably has more text messages in his phone from Jurich than Petrino had from Dorell at this point, 'cept Dorell got what she wanted.

Louisville wants the Big 12 or ACC?

If the ACC were to expand ... ND, UConn, and Rutgers would be their #1, #2, and #3 options. But the ACC ain't expanding, and neither is the Big 12.

CJ

Because they don't want to believe that the BE may no longer be a football conference by the time that they join.

If UL and UC goes to the Big 12, and UCONN or Rutgers goes to the ACC with ND, then it is all over with and they have no place to go. At that point, it is no longer attractive for Boise and SDSU.

Without UL, UC and Rutgers and/or UCONN, the TV deal is not going to be that good. Who is going to pay big bucks for Houston, Memphis, UCF, USF, and SMU football

If they expand, I think UofL will be there, but it will be more about

#1- who they can also get that adds value

#2- more money in a renegotiation in the contract and additional $ for CCG and

#3- if the BCS sets up the new selection formula to include extra points awarded for making and winning a CCG (to award teams for having to play an extra game), you can bet your ass they'll be expanding.

Louisville and FSU would be interesting choices. Hard for me to separate love for SMU and Texas (therefore the Big 12).

As a few pointed out, this could be old news from several months ago or a non-story. However, if this is recent, then I can't help but think that Jurich's comments were at best in poor form and at worst highly damaging to the BE for its TV negotiations. His comments just gave the networks a bit more leverage. I can't help but feel like the BE presidents can't be very happy about the bad press when there are member schools who are trying their hardest to make this work because it's all they have. Regardless, I don't see any more expansion on the immediate horizon for the power conferences.

Any movement in conference realignment is a welcomed sight for any ECU fan. We desperately need to get out the clusterF that is now CUSA. Somewhere down the line someone has to finally see look our way.03-banghead

I think it's going to take the loss of two "eastern" schools from the Big East to get ECU in the conference.

Take away any two of this group: UConn, Rutgers, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Then ECU gets a serious look. Otherwise, I don't see it happening. And I don't see any more realignment in the future, except for one (or more) western schools added to the Big East.

To me, ECU = Fresno. But Fresno is blessed to be in the West, and that's where we're looking right now (BYU, Air Force, Fresno).

I guess this scenario would be possible (but highly unlikely): Air Force as #14, Fresno as #15, and ECU as #16.

For what it is worth man, the change in the BCS is HUGE for programs like ECU. While you couldn't even get a sniff from the Big East in the past, in the future when SOS is so important, programs like ECU will garner much more attention.

The Big East will really need to keep it's SOS beefed up if it ever wants to land its champion or top team in the tournament. While ECU couldnt make it in the Big East when it was market driven you guys could definitely be at the top of the list when the choice is SOS driven.

Actually WVU is rooting for FSU and Maryland. From what I understand, Big 12 is reviewing options and Maryland would be the choice over Louisville.
