University of Central Arkansas? Really?

UCA beat WKU 28-7 in '09.

How do you know this ?

Many things to be factored in than just sales of tickets:

Bad weather that will screw the pooch--regardless of opponent ? How many tickets will be sold at a discount or even given away corporately ? How many (that wouldn't have otherwise) come back to other games ? How many bought season tickets due to these games being on the schedule ? Merchandise sales ? Tax sales for city and state (tailgating, hotels, gas) ? How many will give to athletic foundation based on performance and atmosphere of these games, etc ?

I assume the market rate for an ASU game and a MTSU game are about the same. The payout for GA Tech will be greater than the payout for UCA. One is a FCS school less than two hours away. One is an AQ school four hours away.

So UCA brings in more money for stAte than if you were to host Oklahoma ?

Unfortunately, yes. You have to realize that the athletic climate in the state of Arkansas is marred by the fact that uark-f opposes in-state competition. So when ASU plays uark-f or UCA in a relevant sport, it's a big deal. We had 11,000 for a WNIT game a few years back where ASU defeated uark-f. This is the first time either of the FBS schools has hosted an FCS school from within our borders. We have played UCA in the past, but not when they were FCS. This is a big deal. Unfortunately, it would be a much bigger deal if it was ASU v. Uark-f.

Sadly yes. You have to remember that Arkansas is backwards. The people in this state have been conditioned to believe that instate schools should never play each other, because it gains nothing. ASU and UCA represent the 2nd and 3rd most popular schools in the state fan wise. (UCA has passed UALR)

Lets be clear, the game is so big instate, that one of the LR TV stations, a station that has for years done everything in its power to hide the fact that ASU existed, is actually televising the game. The Razorbacks could possibly even have a game at the same time, and they still chose to televise it

If im right, and Arkansas game at Alabama is played in the afternoon, we'll have the attention of the full state, enough that we'll probably have live reports from LR TV stations, and a very healthy crowd from not only UCA fans, who will make the trip in droves. and casual ASU fans who are really Arkansas fans in disguise, will make the trip out of curiosity.

Oklahoma, quite unfortunately, brings none of that.

I like that fact WKU has 6 true home games plus 1 "home game" in Nashville against UK. WKU getting most of the gate in Nashville from what I can remember.

Translation = only 5 true road games
(with one only 1.5 hours away in Mboro)

Also, 4 home games + 1 Neutral occur by Oct. 22 for warmer weather for attendance purposes.

This has all the makings for a trap game. I sure hope it goes stAte's way, but this could be a huge black eye for your program if you guys choke. Much like Bustle and the Cajuns dd against McNeese in 07 in front of 34k.

Yep, I agree. I hope we coast to a 4-5 score victory...minimum. But if it's close, it's going to be annoying to see "you guys lucked out against UCA." I can deal with "you guys have no class the way you ran up the score on UCA" but I cannot deal with the former.
