i think it works if you bring them all in + you could possilby jump to 14 members with 2 byu (football only) and team 18 (all sports).

No. You water down both football and basketball with that configuration.

how's that water down the hoop side?, army, navy and AFA would be football only. If you jump to 14 with byu, another football only, than you bring in say memphis, the hoop side gets a good pickup. As for the football side, its not like penn state or ND are entering, what's bad about the service academies? throw in byu as a solid football pickup but sure you can argue about team 18, maybe ECU/ucf over memphis. I think the big east needs to get off an odd number.

Army and Navy would be great additions from a money, fan support, and exposure perspective. The Big East should jump at the chance if we could land either of those 2 programs as football only members.

That being said, Army or Navy would be crazy to join the Big East. Right now they can tailor their schedule to have successful seasons, get bowl wins, and not diminish the Army-Navy rivalry game. If they joined the Big East they would most likely end up as cellar dwellers and their football programs would fall off in the same way that Army did as a part of C-USA.

I don't think Army or Navy will ever have any interest in joining the Big East.

MAC would be a better fit for Army and Navy. They could compete for the conference title. MAC schools aren't any better on the field or in budgets.
