Troy to Papa John's in The 'Ham ?
http://www.dnj.com/article/20101026/BLUE...+bowl+bids
If MT reaches six wins and the SEC can’t fill all its contracted bowl bids, consider these two very real possibilities that are being discussed around the Sun Belt:
• Troy goes to PapaJohns.com Bowl. MT goes to New Orleans Bowl. Third six-win Sun Belt team goes to GoDaddy.com Bowl (Mobile).
• or ... SEC opts to fill PapaJohns.com Bowl and leaves Liberty Bowl open. MT goes to Liberty Bowl. Troy goes to New Orleans Bowl. Third Sun Belt team goes to GoDaddy.com Bowl.
Of course, there are many other possibilities, most of which also include the Sun Belt’s secondary tie-in with the Little Caesars Bowl (Detroit).
Stay tuned. It could get interesting.

Sparks is usually pretty spot-on with the goings-on in the SBC, but we have two primary tie-ins...and possibly 2 bowl teams. A third bowl eligible team would need to rise from the ashes for there to be a scenario of three bowls. Who is the most likely 3rd bowl team?FIU? ULM? Maybe stAte can do it because I thought they would've been 2nd or 3rd before the season started...

Why would the champion go to a bowl that isn't one of our primaries?

I don't think Troy will be available.
Two are going to New Orleans or Mobile. Chances are Detroit will be short and we've got a back-up deal there.
To get Troy into Birmingham there are going to have to be four eligible teams.
WKU and UNT play this week so one of them is eliminated and winner would have to win out so that isn't likely. That leaves seven teams.
The Cajuns have to go 4-1 down the stretch to get eligible and would have to win all but one of @Ohio, @Ole Miss, @FAU, @ULM, and host FIU.
The Red Wolves have to 3-1 down the stretch and have MT and WKU at home and @Navy and @FIU.
Chances are pretty good they both go out and that leaves 5 teams.
ULM has to win three of @LSU, @FIU, Troy, UNT, and ULL. If they lose to Troy this week, next up is LSU and they are looking at needing to win the final three.
MT needs to win three of @ASU, UNT, @WKU, FAU, @FIU. That's likely within reach.
FIU needs four out of @FAU, ULM, @Troy, @ULL, ASU, MT. I think that's possible. But if FIU makes it and someone is available to go to another location, I think New Orleans and Mobile would both be looking to take Troy and not release them, FIU wouldn't be looked at hard by any other than Detroit unless they beat Troy and take the conference or the St. Pete Bowl could end up short and probably would want FIU.

After Troy ULM plays @ FIU, then it's @ LSU and then UNT and ULL @ Malone Stadium in Monroe.

Haha I think it is funny that you find yourself having to point out that you have a home game against UL and it is actually in Monroe. But, I also understand why since your best attended "home games" have all been in Little Rock.

The Only Reason ULM Had A Home Game In Little Rock. Was Because They Had A Contract With The University Of Arkansas.

IF they win Tuesday, I think the ASU/FIU game will be for a possible bowl bid. If they lose, Navy probably finishes off the bowl hopes...and Roberts career.

I didn't realize that the deal we have with Detroit trumped the deals we have with Birmingham or Liberty. So if we have a third bowl eligible team, we're contractually obligated to fill Detroit even if better opportunities are available? Makes perfect sense that Waters would sign a deal that allows the bowls to wiggle off the hook, but leaves the conference no flexiblity at all.

Don't confuse bowl eligible with an exemption from the bowl eligibility rules, which is a totally different issue now with the additional bowls.
Motor City Pizza or whatever it is now had to sign someone to back up or cease to exist. My understanding our choices were Detroit or saving the International Bowl. One requires a passport for all the players.
Personally, I am not thrilled about Detroit, but I'm even less thrilled about the idea of "saving" a game like the Texas Bowl, Birmingham, or St. Pete that told us to take a hike we don't want no stinkin' Sun Belt teams dirtying up our super-special elite bowl games.
In the vernacular.
Screw them.
If they have to fold, tough. If they have to make their sponsors mad because sportswriters mock them for taking a 5-7 team, that's fantastic.

That was a 4 home games in Little Rock contract. The only reason it was scheduled was because at the time ULM could not meet the proposed attendance requirements that the NCAA wanted to implement 15,000 butts in the seats.
Hell you guys still can barely meet that requirement. But this year we may not either. lol.

Detroit Bowl apparently treated our team like crap. We will avoid unless it's our only shot. Beggars cannot be choosers. If we don't win at stAte, the point is moot anyhow.
