Rush Blacklisted from NFL Ownership
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story...NHeadlines
So, Convicted Felons can play in the NFL. Outspoken conservatives can not have Minority Ownership, not only that they will Lie and smear said conservative, to make sure that happens. And get away with it.
Ideological Purity is the new requirement for NFL Ownership, welcome to Post-America and the age of Liberal Fascism.
Rush can sue for Libel, Slander and claim Financial Damages now though. That should be fun

Quote:Several players have also voiced their displeasure with Limbaugh's potential ownership position, and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, who is black, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh's bid.
So the tail now wags the dog. If RL ever did make it to ownership you can be sure the players and union would take his money.

Apparently the Rams do want a image change and may opt for a new logo...

The NFL is entertainment, just like Hollywood, right? Charlie Sheen believes the government was behind 9/11 and is not shunned. Same thing with Rosie O. How many other loons are out there and are warmly welcomed by their liberal pals?
Rush just got a liberal dose of discrimination, pure and simple.

It's called image. The NFL doesn't want controversial figures if it isn't necessary to have them. You can't force the NFL to accept him.

RE: Rush Blacklisted from NFL Ownership
I don't believe the NFL forced him out. He pulled his own name out, from what I heard. If that is the case, then I blame Rush for not staying in there and making the NFL take a stand. If they had blocked him he could have sued... simple as that. Rush apparently didn't go into the venture to make big headlines, therefore he decided to move off to the side when it became a big deal.

Discrimination based on what? Race? Gender? National origin?

Vick served his time in jail. The owner determined that the advantage of having Vick on their time outweighed any image issues it might cause, probably because he had served his time already. Also, the only owner that had a say in it was the Eagles owner, not the entire league. Life isn't fair. You were saying?

Precisely. If the advantage to your team outweighs the bad PR, you bring them in. It's just business. And the other owners don't have a say in which players you sign.

His time in jail doesn't negate the controversy. Try again.
Also, Rush has never been convicted of anything. Just public opinion.....you know....kinda like a part of Vick's sentence. Again, you were saying?

RE: Rush Blacklisted from NFL Ownership
It's called a business decision. If Rush Limbaugh sold tickets like Michael Vick did, they would look past a certain amount of controversy. A business decision like this doesn't have to be "fair", and is not illegal. And even if they did keep Limbaugh out simply because he's a conservative, that isn't illegal either (I don't think). Certainly, labor laws say nothing about political leanings.

None of those are "law-breaking" instances. ...for now. Try to do it to a liberal, and you'll probably see a flip side.
These dumb*** libs are, however, setting a very dangerous precedent. I don't know if the NFL knows this or not, but conservatives watch the NFL as well.

If republicans do make a comeback in 2010, I sincerely hope that they are more concerned about policies than about getting even. That didn't happen after 1994, and the republicans and the country paid a price.

Non of those people have been back except for Ricky Williams, whom might I add was never even been in legal trouble. Ray Caruth didn't play under suspicions and is going to be in jail for a long time. Alzado was mean but never a real issue. What did Dobler do? Adam Jones did what he did, was suspended for a year, played half a season and can't find another job. Burress is in jail and most people wouldn't consider what he did a true crime. Stallworth got off easy in the courts but is suspended for this season and indefinitely after that. Leaf stayed in the league and was never liked, he eventually left because nobody would sign him. Mercury Morris did nothing during his career that would even ruffle feathers. Michael Vick didn't actually commit the crime but owned the property. Under most situations he would've been given probation; pressure from PETA got him time.
The NFL doesn't welcome controversy. After you do something that ruffles feathers in that way your career will not last longer than your contract.
