I have not looked but I believe that they reported that ECU accepted 75% of those who applied. I got my alumni magazine last week and this year ECU accepted 4,700 out of 16,000 applications. That is 29%!!

I am not sure where US News gets there numbers but they are WAY off. I am also pretty sure that our numbers have not changed that dramatically since last year.

FYI...you might be confusing those that apply (and later accepted)...vs those that finally enroll (much lower number).

In 2005-2006: (See page 7 of that year's Common Data Set).

ECU had a total of 11,628 students apply...and 8,567 were accepted (74% acceptance rate)...and 3,223 ended up ENROLLING that year.

In 2007-2008 (missing data from 2006-2007...wonder why?), ECU had 14,653 student apply for admissions...and 12,328 were accepted. (Acceptance rate of 84%)...while 4,196 were enrolled. (See page 26 in 2007-2008 CDS).

Don't confuse the number for enrollment with the number ACCEPTED...as more students end up NOT enrolling, even though they were accepted.

Since US News uses EVERY SCHOOL's Common Data Set numbers...and since ECU's accpetance rate in 2005-2006 was 74%....and in 2007-2008% it was 84%....if they said the 2006-2007 acceptance rate was 75%...that probably about right (considering the acceptance rates for the year prior and the year after).
