I do remember in 1996 when UC (CUSA champ) met Gtech (ACC champ) in the sweet 16 game...UC pounded them into oblivion and Billy Packer kept saying "Georgia Tech hasn't seen a team like Cincy this year in the ACC".......he also was a HUGE HUGE Oscar Robertson fan. I always thought Billy liked UC.

He did, and he was good in the mid-90s. But, by the end of the 90s, he became mainly an ACC guy. And he referred to UC and C-USA as mid-major, which is stupid. How in the world to you have a conference with Cincinnati, Memphis, Louisville, Marquette, Depaul, Charlotte, Houston, and UAB and call it mid-major!?

He retired and left on his own terms, he wasn't fired by CBS.

Who cares how he left as long as he's gone...

Billy looks at everything through ACC eyes. Not the way they actually are but the way he wants them to be. I still remember him making the comment about the woman breaking the consecutive free-throw record. He made some snide remark and she called him on it. She ended up challenging him to a free-throw shooting contest and beating him and his big mouth.
