Billy Packard Fired from CBS
The ACC biggest homer is fired from CBS sports. Clark Kellogg will replace him as the announcer at game time. Finally, it has been long over due.

I hate to celebrate anyone losing their job but in P-ACC-KER'S case I'll make an exception. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana

It's "Billy Packer", not "Packard".

Mongo is an acc guy. One of his biggest acc supporters just got canned. Give him some time, he'll get over it.

If ESPN hires Packer and puts him in the booth with Dukey V and Mike Patrick, I am going to bust the sound on my television set.

RE: Billy Packard Fired from CBS
It's good to know this was Packer's decision, and not CBS' -- per Packer's son "Mark" (listening to Primetime with the Packman).

Packer, whether you liked him, or didn't like him, was one of the BEST color commentators. Period. He may or may not have painted your color, but he WAS colorful. I, personally, liked him -- as I grew up with him down in ACC country. His call that the Kansas-Carolina game was "over" was just part of his genius.

I'll reserve comments on Kellogg until next April.
---
Edit: Listening to the Packer interview on the radio now...

1) This was Billy Packer's decision that he made a year ago, so it wasn't a "firing".

2) He thinks John Thompson should have retired earlier to pursue a political career.

I'll have the link to the podcast up tomorrow if requested.

That's your opinion. That doesn't mean it's a fact. Paccker is an ACC homer. Of course you are going to run to his defense.

But, of course. You knew that about me before you typed it. 04-cheers

My god that was corny. ACC fans weep. Actually, only a few ACC fans because Duke and North Carolina fans are tearing him a new @sshole.

Either way it equals an obsolete relic that is no longer manufactured, and not something fired (unless you consider smelting).

The BIG difference... One is useful and worth keeping. The other one isn't. :muttering:

Packer did great work with a guy named Jim Thacker on ACC broadcasts "back in the day". When he got paired with Al McGuire on national TV he got a "big head" and he hasn't been a good announcer since.
