Some see them adding Memphis. The Big East isn't the only conference UofM is talking to.
Okay... Who? Seriously, name a non-BCS conference better than C-USA?

Houston has committed to winning. They hire good coaches and have had 'runs' and conference championships.
What is interesting about Houston is how little success they have in C-USA basketball. Seriously, they should be a Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, etc... They have hired good coaches but had not found top ten success.
If we applied modern day term of BCS to the football landscape of the early-to-mid 90's, Houston would be BCS during their stay in the SWC, along with schools like Rice, Southern Methodist and Texas Christian. If the SWC somehow surivived into the BCS era, they would almost surely be an autobid conference.
While Houston BB hasn't been a world beater, they've had four straight .500+ seasons and have finished in the top four of C-USA three straight years.
There are alot of similarites in potential, fanbase, student body, instituitional strength and market between Houston and Temple. So far, Houston has been a force in the new C-USA while Temple has struggled in the MAC and lost a step in basketball. As for the future? We'll see.

They currently play at a facility (Robertson Stadium) that looks more like UMass' place and doesn't have the numbers to be playing at Reliant Stadium or even the old Astrodome right now (average att: 20,955, or about 900 more a game than Duke is drawing).
Not trying to sandbag the Cougar fans, but they're not on the agenda of the Big 12 right now.

In addition to having pathetic support for a program with so much tradition, UH hasn't had a good coach since Guy Lewis resigned in the mid-80's after Phi Slama Jama until they got Tom Penders for a discounted rate.
But it is a mystery why UH hasn't been better in basketball, no doubt.

Well there you have it. Nebraska can bolt to the Big Ten with no worries now. Memphis could replace the Cornhuskers in the Big 12 North and they would not miss a beat.
