Canes take game 4! Coming back to Raleigh for a chance to win it all! Frickin bandwagon fans have bought all the frickin tickets! I've been following this team for the past 4 years (including the lockout season)! I knew who Cam Ward was before the lockout season! And now I can't get a ticket! Thus, the downside of a teams success.

I hope the Canes can close it out at home. Raleigh might even burn cars over this one LOL

apparently NBC's telecast of the game on saturday got a meager 2.5 million viewers. i guess you can't use the argument "a lot of people don't get that channel," because even homeless people get NBC.

i recognize that, but what about the supposed hockey fans who don't like either team, but love the game so much. i always watch the WS, yet the giants are never in it.

I got to see it in HD on my brothers 50" tv. THe NBC feed was off WITN and a few glitches in it..my guess due to the weather around here today. Anyone know what res NBC uses for HD? I think Fox uses 720p and CBS uses 1080i. Reason I ask is I thought it would look sharper..more detail in the jerseys and they had some fuzzy looking reds on the Hurricanes jerseys.

I found the first two games on HD. dont know if it was OLN or NHL channel-but it was sharper then NBC's broadcast.


that first goal in 16 seconds is what did it. if Ward had warmed up quicker and stopped it-we woulda won 3-2. ole well, time to punk Canada at their place!

Back on topic, great game bad result... I was so mad when they came into the power play so slow... you could almost see edmonton scoring!! Oh well!

That question of res relies on fuzzy math


A standard tv and signal use interlace scanning (i) and HDTVs use both interlace(i) and progressive scanning (p). The difference is that 480i signal (best analog) will not look as sharp as a 1080i one because of more scan lines. Interlace scanning takes half of the picture (odd number of res lines if you will) and then combines the other half (even number) into one picture fast enough you can't tell it was 2 halves. Progressive scan works all the lines at the same time. so 720p looks pretty darn good and so does 1080i and BOTH look way better than 480i. The caveat is you can have DIGITAL tv signals from 480i/p up to 1080i/p(newer tvs are capable of the 1080p and only HD DVD and BluRay DVD are 1080p sources at the moment). But HD resoultion starts at 720p. Anything below 720p is called S(E)D tv. SDTVs down convert anything from 480p and up to 480i/p and some can't input the higher resolutions...your box will have to do it. EDTVs can do up to 720p and can accept any res HD signal and down convert to something the tv can understand. HDTVs can do it all.
