Since we're on the topic of media bias...
Ted Rall recently drew up <a href='http://www.ucomics.com/rallcom/2004/07/05/' target='_blank'>
this cartoon</a>, which was distributed in 140 newspapers, including the Washington Post.
In the second frame of the cartoon, far leftist Rall, who is white, refers to Condoleeza Rice as a "house n----", while a black man wearing a t-shirt that reads
You’re Not White, Stupid asks Rice for her "hair-straightener" back as he escorts her to an “Inner-city Racial Re-education Camp."
Imagine, just for a moment, if a conservative cartoonist for, say, the Washington Times drew the same cartoon depicting a prominent African-American Democrat in these terms. You think we would've heard more about it? I did a Google search using "Rall" and "Rice", and got two news hits. Two. I think we all know what would happen if Bill O'Reilly brazenly used the n-word to describe a black person, even in jest. O'Reilly wouldn't be able to leave his house for a month for fear of his life.
I guess blatantly racial comments get a free-pass from the press if the object of the derision is someone who doesn't toe the left-wing party line.
(Michelle Malkin's column responding to Rall is a <a href='http://michellemalkin.com/archives/000160.htm' target='_blank'>
must read.</a>)
Meanwhile, long-forgotten has-been Linda Ronstadt, talking about her outburst praising Michael Moore and his "truth" (LOL) said this...
Quote:It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know.
Imagine again, just for a moment, if Toby Keith - presumably a conservative-leaning country star - said these words... but replaced "Republican and Christian" with "Democrat and Muslim". The press would have a field day. You know it. I know it.
And here I thought Fox News was the only media outlet that 'selects' what it wants to report on.
