And I'd bet if you polled every G5 AD you'd have the majority say the same, Afflicted.....travel costs, COA, the morphing of the new structure put in place by the P5's to separate themselves from everyone else....etc etc. I, for one, would not see some consolidation as a bad thing as I believe it would foster more fan-friendly rivalries while reducing costs at the same time.
For now, some schools in the AAC still fancy the idea that the P5 conferences will throw their school a life line, or that the P5 will suddenly realize that they need to add a sixth conference to their exclusive group.
You are saying that no P5 conference will ever expand by either 1) poaching a team from another P5 conference or, 2) poaching a team from a G5 conference.
When the B1G poached the ACC by taking P5 Maryland, the ACC turned around and poached G5 Louisville. That's how it goes--a P5 takes a team from another P5 and that conference takes a G5.
And no P5 conference "throws a life line" to a G5 school. The P5 conferences that have expanded have done so in their own interests.
If you think realignment is at a complete end, you would be right. Beyond that, I've read nothing to indicate that AAC members think their conference will become a P5. What some members think is that if and when a P5 conference expands, the odds are that those teams will come from the AAC.
I'll give you that. I think that IF a P5 were to expand, that team would come from the AAC. Most likely Cincinnati. I do think realignment is over. At least as far as G5 teams moving to P5 conferences is concerned.
