My guess is he’s hoping to work an angle to testify in the case to help the defense in this one, then hope for a commutation or pardon when Trump wins for the third time.

This is probably the case. I know no doubt he probably has some damaging info that would damage the prosecution already weak case and wouldn’t try to sabotage Trump knowing he’s the only one that has a chance to reduce his time in jail if he wins
