Each unit is worth ~$2 million to the conference spread over 6 years. So JMU earned the conference $4 million.

This works out to roughly $48k a year for the next 6 years for each team (versus the normal $24k for 1 unit).

It’s dumb for the Sun Belt to not have an excellence pool. Why does a doormat athletic program like Louisiana-Monroe get an equal share when they have never contributed to the cause of the Sun Belt by getting a bid.

Just exist and collect money.

The biggest thing JMU basketball needs right now is for the Sun Belt to improve, especially towards the bottom of the conference. I'm totally fine with splitting the money equally.

This is a welcome extra few thousand dollars.

If my math is correct that's around 875K, couple that with Byington's buyout money and Coach B left us with a nice wad of cash on his way out.

This is good news. Did the Sun Belt Vote to give a one-time increase to the team that made the tourney and won a game in the tourney ?

Or is this an actual bylaw that has existed and nobody knew about?

It is always good to have more money and feels good when it is earned through actual performance.

I'm thinking it's in the bylaws. The Sunbelt has not seemed interested in nice guying us.
