New transfer rule likely
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1011...itting-out

It looks like unlimited transfers without sitting out is about to happen. Legally they have to do this but man, is it going to be chaos. The big teams will have entire staffs dedicated to stealing other teams' players. Also, watch guys go back and forth between say Alabama and Georgia as they leverage their NIL.

How is this any different than how it's been for the past few years?

It's just another attempt by the NCAA to codify something they have lost in court. I scoff at them even mentioning Academic Eligibility. No way these transfer guys are continuing to progress towards a decree with all the skipping around. You think most of these High level transfer are even in classes after they enter the Portal. Doubtful.

We need a new College division that only offers scholarship and room/board. Once you transfer out to chase NIL money you are not welcome back. There is no rights violations because this is deal you sign up for. You can leave at anytime. Don't like it leave. Your primary goal is to get an education and represent your school not chase NIL money.

I think that is called NAIA.

I heard a rumor that NIU just opened its purse and offered a lot of NIL money to the UCONN players to come to DeKalb. Each player will get $100 and the right to continue to call themselves Huskies. Better prepare - they’re on their way to DeKalb!

It’s not super different than it is now. It’s a rare time a guy transfers more than once. It used to be some bull**** “mental health” reason that would get them eligible.

Just making it so no one has to play make believe.

Personally I don’t feel as if this changes much. Teams aren’t getting much bang for their buck with NIL money. Ask Ohio state how that Ewers money turned out.

The big dogs hate these rules. They balance things out in the middle because the truth is most guys who transfer aren’t getting paid a ton. Of course some are, but the guys who are leaving aren’t guys who were considering NIU anyway

Only 24 scholarships for Football in NAIA and most of those are split among players - Make it the current 85 and group together with the Group of 5 schools that realize that the Power whatever do not have them in their plans. I guess it would be FCS+. Probably a terrible idea, but things are changing quickly and most will be left behind.

I am sorry to say that membership in the Grotto and appropriate “souvenirs” cannot be part of the NIL package. It would simply be way too valuable. Plus, if word of that got out, top players from around the country would rush to play for NIU, giving us an unfair advantage. That would for sure destroy NIU’s reputation as a highly moral institution. We DO do things right and sleep well at night - sometimes even during the games themselves!
