The 1693 Alliance is the result of considerable work accomplished by a group of Tribe Alumni and fans over the past 3 months. We have already had considerable success accomplishing deals for seven football players and gaining a number of pledges to support deals for men's b-ball.

The official launch of the 1693 Alliance LLC will coincide with the launch of our website in late April. The website will allow for contributions of all sizes with the ability to designate a contribution to a specific sport.

Our emphasis in providing support to our student-athletes is on deepening the relationship between Tribe Athletics and the community through service provided to community-based charitable organizations. Among the organizations we are already partnered with are the Williamsburg House of Mercy, WJCC Schools, Heritage Humane Society, Literacy for Life and the Williamsburg Youth Football & Cheerleading League (Williamsburg Hornets).

Excited for the future of Tribe athletics. I was one of those old school athletes that didn't quite understand how NIL has a place at W&M and college athletics. I've come around though. Like it, or don't like it, it's here and it's here to stay. Having a viable NIL at a scale appropriate to W&M will allow us the best chance of competing at the highest level. Many thanks to those with the vision and effort to make this possible.

The fact that Brian Mann thanked the 1693 Alliance in his introductory remarks yesterday is enormous in meaning.

This is an LLC not a 501-C3. The IRS has cracked down hard on collectives attempting to attain tax deductible status. Process now takes 6-8 months and likely rejected.

This was the 2nd best news we've had this month.

Darius Wilson and Hollis Mathis at opening day of Williamsburg Hornets Spring season! They will be working with the Hornets through the Fall season!

Looks like you've already got counsel.
but...any drawback to forming as a Virginia non-stock, putting the magic words in and then attempting classification as a private foundation? I'm just seeing the initial description and it almost looks like a description I'd put in a Form 1023. I don't know know this realm though so no pride in this post, and there could be other traps with athletes being paid that don't allow exemption.

Just my two cents, maybe worth running up the line if it's not already been explored. I don't know about the other collectives and the IRS crackdown, but if you're including partnerships with 501c3s you at least pass the sniff test and I wouldn't see it being rejected right away...

It is taking an absurdly long time for 1023s to be processed though, very true.
