I remember reading from a neutral official that there was a hold before the pass and it was supposed to be called holding not pass interference.

Maybe they shouldn't have gotten tackled for a safety...???

I kind of remember that. As a big Buckeye fan, I can honestly say, bad call, no, really terrible call.

That Fiesta Bowl was pretty sloppily officiated. I seem to remember a blatantly bad call that went Miami’s way earlier that game and always thought that this borderline play in question was meant to be a make up call.
