The Sunbelt's last remaining men's basketball team is playing High Point in the CBI Semi Finals against #1 seed High Point. For those interested, it'll air 6pm central on ESPN2.

I expect it to be a close one as long as Astate plays as well as they did last game! (Astate defeated #5 Montana 74-61)

Man... if ASU can keep their guys out of the portal, they could be real nasty next season.

As Randy said we could win this game if we play like we did the 1st half vs. Montana. We went cold from the field in the second half. Rebounds and turnovers were the big difference for us in the second half against Montana. Montana made a couple of runs in the second half. We were up 21 early in the second half and Montana cut it to 5 (I think) or 7 at one point and then we pulled away late.

We're quietly confident on the portal front. Most of our top players have indicated they are staying put. And as mentioned, we've raised a crap ton of money for our NIL collective over the last few months, entirely dedicated to basketball.

Plus, Hodgson has already gotten a redone contract that included a raise to match upper echelon SBC Salaries, and a buyout that is large enough to keep non Top 7 conference schools away.

Arkansas St already beat Lolisville. Way bigger buzz than High Point.

Our two HS signees were highly recruited. We've had 3 that did not play, or rarely played this season to hit the portal, and open some roster spots. We've already had one transfer in from Ole Miss, who was the top player in Arkansas last year. It does not look like any of our contributors will hit the portal. On paper, things look very optimistic for next season.

We lose 80-81. Had a good look at the end to win.

We also get cheated by nonsensical rule. There were two goaltending calls against the High Point big. Several minutes after the calls, the points were taken away from us upon review. The second one, I know for sure was blocked right into the hands of our player. But due to the goaltending call, it’s High Point’s ball out of bounds. So not only did we get screwed out of the points, we get screwed out of the possession. It may have happened on the first goaltend as well, I don’t remember.

Either stop play right away and review the call, or don’t review goal tends at all. Subsequent play can be affected depending on what the call is. Reviewing if a toe was on the line as play continues is fine, because a goal was made either way, and subsequent play would be the same.

Arkansas State... Why you gotta make a difficult buzzer beater down 1 against App but miss a wide open one against High Point?

It just means more to beat Appy is all.
