And some notable ones missing, but maybe they’re in class. If you’re available and don’t attend this press conference, I think that’s a message.

Yeah, don't see either of the Dorsey brothers.

Yeah, don't see either of the Dorsey brothers.

I thought I saw Gabe at the end of the row farthest from the podium.

As for players not there, Wednesday at 1pm was a popular time for a class back in my day.

Yeah, don't see either of the Dorsey brothers.

Just at the end now after all the Q&A, I saw Case and some other players that I couldn't see from earlier camera shots. I wouldn't read too much into it at this point I think. Attendance at the workout yesterday would be more illuminating IMO.

Back to this press conference, Coach Earl killed it. All of his answers were on point. I didn't know that he had recruited Chase Lowe to Cornell, but that's a really good sign for us I think.

RE: Brian Earl - new head coach of W&M MBB
I thought that the press conference was very promising. It was good to see players in the video of the practice yesterday and at the presser today.

Can someone let me know why the RTD tries to make this about Chris Mooney? I know that they both attended Princeton and know each other, but I've not found where either their playing careers or coaching careers overlapped.

Well, they do know each other very well, but, seriously, John-O always makes every story on W&M, somehow about U of R. Been that way for years.

RE: Brian Earl - new head coach of W&M MBB
Just got home from the presser.

Comments and observations:

1. We had 8 or 9 players attending including G Dorsey, Lowe, Case, Collier, Evans, Hicks, and I think Hamilton. No Williams or Jack K.

2. Coach Earl mentions that awarding scholarship at W&M is easier than Cornell since financial aide is not a factor and singled out Lowe as a recruit he tried to get at Cornell and lost to W&M.

3. He mentioned several times how the players felt like they are family and he wanted to encourage that chemistry. Players have shared over the last few months similar feelings.

4. Understands that he will need to build is O and D around the current talent and was cautious to obviously make any commitments. He goal is to press on the D and stated that Cornell lead the country this year in that along with being a top 10 offense.

Bottomline is that the enthusiasm is amazing in the room today and the press even mentioned us never going to the NCAA and Coach Earl acknowledged that would be one of many topics he and the players will be discussing.

I'm paraphrasing.....

Fischer Press Conference - "I want to recruit gym rats", "We want to play defense"
Earl Press Conference - "I want to recruit kids who value the W&M education", "I want to play fast exciting basketball, but I will mold it based on the players"

A lot from the press conference with the bonus of a quote from Chase Lowe.

Mann mentioned the 1693 Alliance as an NIL program, does anyone have more information on that?

(I'm not wealthy enough to be an NIL donor, more just curious what our NIL efforts look like)

A cursory search just shows an SCC filing date of March 6th and the filer - a W&M alum by the looks of it, I assume he's handling their paperwork. No websites or any other passing mention - so it's either very much under lock and key or they're really just getting the ball rolling

Entity Name: 1693 Alliance, LLC
Entity ID: 11666439
Name: Kevin A. Lake

No proof of anything, but connecting the dots, Cornell assistant Max Ginsberg is recently following some grad transfers. Ivy schools can't take grad transfers. Also, some of our previous staff seems active following transfers. Unless they are recruiting for someone else, they are probably recruiting for us.

I filed an FOIA request this morning to see if I could get the contract, no idea if it's FOIA-able, but if I learn anything I'll share it here.
