lol.
Michigan doesn’t much gaf about bb. Hello. Michigan just won the national championship in fb. Hatbaugh left and they hired internally. FB butters their bread.
All they want for bb is someone who doesn’t go ballistic …so now May is their guy.
May squeaks off to the refs and promotes entitlement amongst his players. He’ll do.
only 3 schools have won 60 games over the past 2 years.

Kam Jones showed zero interest in us if I remember correctly

One thing I gave up a long time ago is caring what other people think about me or anything I love — one of those loves being Memphis.
I’ve got Memphis DNA—plus a smidgeon of northern Mississippi and the Arkansas hills.
Man…do I love that freakin river. And the Memphis music!
Shitt , who doesn’t get chills when they think of the origin of the name ‘Memphis’ and the ancient Egyptian myths .
Meh… enough of this sentimental stuff…Memphis has my heart. Period.
I root for the city, the university, the athletic department… especially BB! There is no place like Memphis town when it comes together in joy…or even sorrow lol.. BB does this for the people and the whole city—it transcends all boundaries of race, religion, gender, politics, economic status.
Penny knows this. He was born here. His goal is to achieve these moments of unity for all of us while providing leadership and training for future professional athletes while juggling the changes. He’s got my energy and support.
Get a grip, folks. Conferences are disintegrating and college athletics is in major flux. The guys at the top get more money than we can imagine.
Gonna be a bumpy ass ride before this settles down some. Players get paid.. some are unionizing. Plus they can come and go whenever and wherever— some even sell themselves to the highest bidder.
Criticizing our main coaches( Penny and Silverfield) is just not my bag, lol. It takes energy away from the ultimate goals.

Happens every year
It does. Any coach that does well at the mid major level is going to eventually cash in with a power team. The AAC is mid-major now and that isn't ever going to change
Penny is likely one of the few exceptions that will stay put even if he has a FF run.
May had worked his ass off to get this chance. Even if he flames out he will be set for life - so there is nothing foolish about him moving up. Think about the difference in facilities between FAU and Michigan. Will there be days he misses FAU? Probably but that is just part of the process.
Ohio State hired the interim coach which I’ll never understand. That rarely works. But it shows that if a school with all the resources of the Buckeyes can’t find a coach the pool isn’t that great.
Actually there is a pool of great coaches out there. As a high school coach I see great coaching night in and night out. I have learned so much from great coaches all over with Texas high school basketball.
The only problem is, today’s college and NBA coaches have made their jobs an exclusionary job where they only hire buddies and former players. Yes some high school coaches will get noticed, if they have some 5 star talent, but most will stay stuck in high school purgatory.

First conference loses good teams
Now supposedly any remaining good coaches. USF might lose their coach too.
It’s a sh!tty ass conference. Tis what it is.

And if he would've came here he would probably have floundered... with his homeys in his ear about playing time and other drama from his "hood" and his parents in Penny's ear too. Just because some Memphis player thrives elsewhere doesn't mean he would thrive here. It's almost always a good thing for their playing career, their education and their overall life in general to get the hell away from Memphis.

And on the flipside, it's better (imo) to get players from out of the area because they don't have a connection to the Memphis hood thugs

Yup

No, it's six years of Penny, two of Tubbah, and I think Paz put in two in the AAC?
10 years of pretty much horseshit in the AAC.

Winning with Memphis players can be done. You just have to run a tight ship. Something Finch, Pastner or Penny haven’t done. If Calipari took a Memphis kid. He didn’t take $*!t off anyone.
That being said. I question how good Memphis talent really has been over the last 30 years. How many actual Memphis kids have made an huge impact on the NBA or even high level college basketball?

Memphis still has plenty of college talent overall. We were tied for 9th in 2022 and if you were to adjust that for per capita it’s probably at the top or very close. Don’t feel like doing the math. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men...etball?amp
Now how successful have those players been comparatively? I dunno but we have plenty of D1 guys.
