NCAA AQ's
Greg Sankey, Jay Bilas and now the Baylor AD Mack Rhoades have said within a week that although they don't want to take away opportunities, but they are gonna take away opportunities. Its like they all have the same marching orders. The attack on BB has started.

The tournament is about ratings and small schools simply don’t draw.
Money wins… it always does.

Last years Final Four with UCONN, Miami, FAU & SDSU set an all time ratings low. People ultimately want to see the name brands.

I thought they were pushing to expand the NCAA tourney to like 128 or so? If they do, there's no reason to take away AQ's.

I don't care if a team has a small fan base or not. I want to see the best programs and the conference champions. I would really prefer to see the REGULAR season champs get in the tournament and not the conference tournament winners. Regular season is such a better gauge at who is the best. Especially if each team plays each other twice.

Conferences decide how to determine their auto bid, not the NCAA

I guess he wants them to let him pick 16 teams and call it a day.

My choice would be to expand the regular season 2-3 games.
Require balanced scheduling in all conferences. Whether that's 1x through the league or 2x is up to the conference.
Eliminate end of year conference tournaments.
Expand the NCAA tourney to 128 teams.
Do away with the NIT and CBI.

Eventually gonna get

20 BIG teams + 16 SEC teams and that’s your March madness. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna watch the compelling 9 win Vandy team facing off against Rutgers in a 1st round matchup?????? Just ask Greg Sankey.

If that's the case look for the P2 to pick up Kansas and NC and possibly Duke.

Agree with the first part...disagree with the second part. If a "cinderella" slips into the Sweet 16, I think they're a decent draw just because of the underdog angle.

That's been the narrative from national commentators, but I've never really bought it either - and have seen no evidence to support it.
Do we really think there are more people who will tune-in to see TAMU play a S16 game, than will tune in to see FAU on their run last year? Yes the TAMU fan base is much larger, but the tourney draws a lot more than just alums. Tickets sold - probably. But not tv ratings.
Now the issue may be when they have 2 mid-majors playing against each other - that might not be a big draw.

eliminate all conference tournaments.

Use the NET as seeding and invite every team not ineligible.

But not based on win and losses. A team could load up a stack of pancakes.
