I'm just curious, what makes you think he'll be back?

Most the season I was of the opinion he was gone to the g-league or something, but why didn’t he participate in senior night? I doubt he’d transfer so he just willingly missed out on that?

Because he is not a senior. You aren't honored for it being your last game. You are honored for being a senior.

Dang this whole time I was thinking he was a senior who could use his Covid year if he wanted to

Wait is this not his 4th full year of college basketball? 2 at LSU and now 2 at UAB. He should be a senior no?

Yes but technically he's a junior, same with Tony Toney, Yax, Hargrove, and Vasquez.

Academic wise he is a senior

I never said he didn't

It’s not unheard of for seniors to participate in senior night, even if they have eligibility left.

Maybe I’ve just been looking at the Covid year wrong the whole time. I assumed EG was a senior with the option to opt into that Covid year. Meaning if he wasn’t planning on taking it, he could participate in senior night. If that’s not correct then yeah I’ve got no reason or logic to say EG would stay or leave at the end of the season.

I think that's the way they handled it and communicated it the first year or so, and players even had to appeal for that extra Covid season. Rosters were all confusing, trying to figure out how much eligibility players had left. But I think now, the extra year of eligibility is just assumed in how they list the class, even if they have already played four years (as in the case with Gaines, Toney and others).

Lumped high school 2020 into a huge 2021 freshmen now senior college class now in 2024 last of an era that play out well for UAB so far.

I don’t want either guy to leave, nor do I want to see Dunning or Shaver leave. If we can return most of the team and have these guys develop, along with a couple of good pieces in the portal/juco, we could be in tremendous shape heading into next year.

Yeah I saw that too and I get that, but Ortiz shots weren't going down a few times so he got benched. Gotta make the shots to stay off the bench. Thankfully he found his groove later in the season.

At least he stuck it out, and still made an impact this year. Unlike White, who just dipped. (If there were serious extenuating circumstances with White, instead of just quitting bc he was mad about PT, then I apologize.)

Playing time was not the reason that James White left UAB.
