Louisville (we suck and all, but we got some tradition)
Syracuse
Duke
Virginia
North Carolina
That's a list of programs with some serious history!
Congrats Wolf Pack!
Now go get some more victories in the big dance!!
Before the program was destroyed 30 years ago we played in 27 title games in the SoCon and ACC. We had were 18-9. 7-3 vs. Duke, 2-1 vs. WF, 2-0 vs. MD, 1 and 0 against SC, George Washington, and UVa. We had a losing record 3-4 to UNC. That has now been cured.
Many of us older in the tooth can now die in peace.
Who's that I see walkin' in these woods?
Why, it's Little Red Riding Hood
… Hey there, Little Red Riding Hood
You sure are lookin' good
You're everything a big, bad wolf could want
Listen to me
… Little Red Riding Hood
I don't think little big girls should
Go walkin' in these spooky ol' woods alone Awooh!
… What big eyes you have
The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad
So just to see that you don't get chased
I think I ought to walk with you for a ways … What full lips you have
They're sure to lure someone bad
So until you get to Grandma's place
I think you ought to walk
with me and be safe … I'm gonna' keep my sheep suit on
Until I'm sure that you've been shown
That I can be trusted,
walking with you alone Awooh
… Little Red Riding Hood
I'd like to hold you if I could
But you might think
I'm a big, bad wolf, so I won't Awooh!
… What a big heart I have
The better to love you with
Little Red Riding Hood
Even bad wolves can be good … I'll try to be satisfied
Just to walk close by your side
Maybe you'll see things my way
Before we get to Grandma's place … Little Red Riding Hood
You sure are lookin' good
You're everything
that a big, bad wolf could want Awooh!
I mean baa!
Baa? Baa...

If you hadn't watched State the last several years, you might not know that Keatts coached the tournament differently from his usually methods. The full court pressure was tossed away and because of the injury to Horne two more kids actually hit the rotation with real minutes. Instead of playing 6-7 and pressing he went to 8 and real basketball movement. Duke and UNC were particularly unprepared mentally for that. There is a point in the first half of both those games where you can see UNC's and Duke's best guy's display a realization that they might actually lose. It's a look of shock.
Fantastic story, I remember the last time NCSU got close is when they were a 8 or 9 seed, they had a good center in Todd Fuller and PG Hodges(?), good they broke the curse, hopefully this helps them in the future.
