What was really interesting is that they actually listed us as by our name, ‘Louisiana,’ and that’s how the announcers referred to us.

Either they are trying real hard to get on our good side so they can eventually move up to the SBC, or their admin is so incompetent they can no longer keep up their petty/silly vendettas.

I vote for the latter.

I like how just last week there was a Jech fan here crowing about being 12-0.. Then Xavier hung a L.. Then USM hung 2 on them.. Now the Cajuns.. It's been a fun week Tater.

I find it hilarious that some on the coosa board talk about Neck being a force in college baseball. Yeah for one season! LOL.
Don't forget that they got bombed by Northwestern too. Not the one in Illinois, the one in Natchitoches.
To be fair, it is baseball and weird things happen. I am not yet convinced that WE are any good.

My jaw dropped with all the Louisiana/UL love from the broadcast. Definitely extending an olive branch.

There was much of the same over the weekend when USM was there.

Interesting….can you give a few examples of what you guys experienced? Because all kidding aside, the fact that they actually called us by the right name is a HUGE change in their MO.

This proves that they may be smarter than we think.
But it also confirms that they’re jerks since they know better.

Well, I don’t think of them as smart or dumb, just small, petty, insecure and jealous. That waaaaay over-inflated ego of theirs that they have had for many years has now come to bite them in the arse, big time.

Nice to see old karma finally dealing with them.

You gotta start somewhere and frankly it was refreshing. It was well received by many Cajun fans.

Any tech fans lurking care to comment on the apparent change on using our preferred name?

As an outsider looking in, that was my thoughts to this. They've known better but acted petty just because they are petty. Probably a concerted effort told to those across the board to act right for future consideration in a conference life preserver.

Jim Henderson probably has a lot of great connections from his time as UL System President and which opens the door for olive branches at the administration level. He has the relationships to rebuild bridges that have been burnt.

Agree. With Henderson now at the helm there is at least one adult in the room. I guess what we were really curious about is how the fan base is taking these ‘olive branches,’ esp calling us by our correct name?

Complimentary of our performance last year after leaving COOSA. Saying after they come to Hattiesburg next year, it was unsure how we would play going forward, but for the sake of the old rivalry we should at least play midweek. Talked about our success in the SBC, winning the Auburn regional and hosting again. Generally complimentary of the program.

It wasn't earth shattering but we played them 11 times in 2021, things were often chippy, then we, as a fan base, rooted hard against them at the final CUSA tournament in Hattiesburg in 2022. There has been no love lost between the fans. Our coaching staffs are pretty close, as Lane Burroughs is a former assistant here under Corky Palmer, and Ostrander was an assistant under Burroughs at LaTech until he came here.

I won't pretend to have a great feel for the relationship dynamics of LA Tech and surrounding schools, but it seems to me that a lot of aspects of institutional culture that tend to burn bridges can often be sourced back to a few individuals. It's unfortunate sometimes that so few can have such a big impact, but it also means rebuilding can happen with just a few key people in place.

Not in this case. That attitude was how the majority of how the admin felt, as well as a large portion (practically all) of the fan base. But change can occur from the top down, so we shall see.
