Over the last decade Memphis was right there with UCF, Cincy, Houston - better than SMU.
Now, every one of those teams are going to be collecting 40-50M per year while Memphis is in the 7-9 range.
It was never about football. It was never about basketball. It was never about fan support / attendance numbers.
All the trouble, effort, and planning that went into Memphis athletics was all for nothing.
The AAC is total and complete garbage and is always going to be from now on moving forward.
Memphis should put basketball in the Big East and go independent in football if it does football at all.
If the numbers above do not sink in with you then I don't know what to tell you.
We don't fit the profile of a Big East school unless we decided to become a private Catholic college all of a sudden.
The following schools would get a call from the Big East before us:
Dayton
St Joes
Saint Louis
George Washington
Richmond
St Bonaventure
Loyola (IL)
No they wouldn’t lol

Well, personally, I can’t walk on water, but I know a guy…

Who needs a scholarship? NIL money can cover all that if they want to stockpile some younger players.

They know that we wouldn’t accept due to football. We’ve already turned them down once. Back in 2013 when the Catholic schools broke away they invited us an UConn. And I was told that by an assistant AD.
Edit that tweet was 3 years ago. You really had to research to dig that up? Norlander has proven over the years to be a blowhard
Unless you name the Assistant AD then I will assume you are making this up.
It was well known at the time. We correctly said no to the BEast breakaway because we still value football and it would have killed it.

These numbers ask more questions than answer. Granted, I haven't done a lot of reading on the new proposal. But writers usually bungle the finances until one of them finally figures it out, and then they all say "yeah that's what we meant".
