You mean the guy that left his feet and gave up a season ending layup?
Yes. That guy.
Right, McFadden couldn't be THE GUY on a team but he was def a good guy to have on the team. He's the like the opposite version of DJ. DJ on a team with a couple defensive minded guys would be a tough team. I think Penny pretty much laid it on the table after WSU game. He brought in a squad that wasn't defense focused. You can survive when you got one ball dominant guy but you can't roll it out there with 5 guys looking to get theirs.
You can get away with one player on the court who is a defensive liability. Kendric was that guy in a lot of ways last year because of his size. His effort was never in question though. But Jones and Quinerly were poor perimeter defenders and the inevitable scramble after they lost their man just was too much for the other guys to over come.

Hearing some interesting things this morning. Be curious if anyone else has heard any noise. But after what I heard, I would put it at a coin flip that Penny is even here next year.
I don’t really feel strongly about it either way. I love penny. I think he has done ok until the 2nd half of this year and especially the past couple weeks. Total dumpster fire when u combine his comments and getting bounced by the gluten.
All in all, Penny did what he was hired to do. He got fans back in seats, and interest back in the program. But IMO he’s taken this train as far as he can take it. Wish they could come to some sort of mutual agreement that would keep Penny around the program, keep his deal with Nike 1 cent, etc

Eh, all depends on the offseason IMO. If he somehow cobbles together a decent class then people will show up. Hell, I've had season tix for Josh, Tubby, and now Penny. Why change now. What section are your seats in if you're not renewing. Might see if I can use that as leverage to move lower for a better price.
I haven’t had season tickets the last 2 years. Too much $ for the schedule they play and too much hassle to drive 30 mins each way downtown. Also not a fan of $20 parking, winos, bums, and crime.
I have a feeling that this year I almost got assaulted by two African American teenagers while walking down Beale Street from the parking area to the East. I was with my young biracial adopted daughter who was walking directly behind me as we talked. As the two approached me, one of them saw her and started saying "No, no, no!" to the other one. I took her hand, nodded to them as I walked by.
Once they were behind me, the one that was wanting to try something started shouting abusive things at me. I just kept walking, and I think having my daughter there kept them from trying something.
I don't want to have to deal with situations like that just to go watch the Tigers lose to teams like Rice.

Absolutely, TBH Quinerly, DJ, and Walton were terrible defenders in that they had zero interest. Really only hardcore defender IMO was poor Young who always played his butt off. His size/injuries just kept him off the court. Never seen a dude who can literally do everything right to get to the rim but can't execute either because of a miss or getting it blocked.
This season sucked monkey butt but the only silver lining (talking a thin, thin line here) would be that Penny now knows the guys he can coach and the guys he can't. More importantly, the ratio thereof. Felt like he knew his other teams were offensively limited so he overcorrected and went all offense and it blew up.
I hope DJ stays and we get some Antonio Anderson-eque guys around him. Not just similar talent to AA but leadership as well. I think JQ even said it with Wolo after a game that he's not a vocal leader. AA would rip into anyone if they needed it. In Oakland during tourney when we played Bradley I think, Joey got a dumb tech and AA was absolutely ripping him a new one until one of the coaches had to tell him to calm down. Joey just sat there and took it because everyone knew AA was the alpha.

I get it. Its more of a labor of love at this point for us. Three small kids make it tough for weeknight games but for some reason with these Tigers...
IMO, it is job #1 to find a PG. We desperately need a PG that knows how to run a team. I guess that means finding a transfer that is experienced and hopefully someone who is mature.

Maybe that kid from Chattanooga will hop in the portal since Detroit was 1-30 and Mike Davis got fired.

Speaking of a transfer wish...Watching BC play the last couple nights and they have a dude, Claudell Harris, who has a Ray Allen type follow through. Every shot he took I felt like it was going in. Pretty sure he'd be a tough get though. Beyond other offers he followed the new coach to BC from wherever he came from. Nice to dream though!

Agree. We had a good team and a good path to the elite 8. Losing to FAU like we did was a real program deflator.

I had a similar case of being approached several years ago when I was trying to park farther away for free or cheaper. The last couple years I have chosen my games to attend & parking somewhat strategically to where I buy a couple of 30 day parking passes at the Peabody PL (P2725 ) garage for $90. I normally attend a couple Grizz games too in these 30 day windows, so my price per game is typically down to $15 or so. The walk is an easy one across Peabody PL @ Hooters, then across Beale where they normally have Beale closed off to vehicle traffic & with a security/police presence. So far, I have not felt threatened or unsafe in that route & it usually has a light but steady level of foot traffic with others going to the game or Beale St that you can blend in with if you prefer a “safety in #s” kind of feeling.

I hope you have a conceal carry in those situations, especially with your daughter.

Not allowed to bring it in the Forum if I did, so no way to carry.

Sounds like a song i used to listen to 43 years ago.
