At minimum 5. All players think they are better than reality and should be starters.

Neither Coit, nor Williams, nor Amos nor Nutter, nor Konan, nor Butler, nor Lovings-Watta, and importantly, Amari are leaving. None of those.

And go to where? While they are all decent players they all collectively led NIU to only 9 D1 wins and a 2nd from last place finish in a conference that was pretty weak this season. They might get other low/mid-major offers but none of them are getting a high major offer.

MAC schools like the transfers from last year and possibly colleges closer to home. Coit and Amos can move up the food chain a bit.

Agreed with HuskieJ, if Coit or Amos want a role on a better program, I'm sure someone would take them. And who would blame them? Might be a smaller role, but losing gets old.. can go play 5-10 less min a game but have a chance to go to the tournament? A lot of guys probably take that deal.

Is that inside knowledge or just assuming.

I don't think Williams would really have an offer to go anywhere. Has no tape that he is even healthy.

Hehe. Just hoping. We just need these guys healthy! Ibarguen graduates? He is a key guy to replace. If we can get another big guy like that, and then if they can stay healthy, this will be a good MAC team.

RE: Portal opens Monday
Coit is tiny. Looking around even the good mid-majors there is no one as small as him on their teams. He's a defensive liability. So best offer he will get is to go to Toledo, Akron, or Kent State but when only one team from the conference gets a NCAA you don't know which one it is. Those teams also have guards on their team that are bigger, better defensively, and just as good as him offensively.

If these guys are all transferring, they're sure waiting until the last moment to enter the portal.

The season has been over for 5 days and none of them have entered the portal while dozens have hit the portal each day across NCAA in that same timespan.

RE: Portal opens Monday
It is really early to declare NIU safe due to no one entering yet. Only 52 players in the portal this morning with a good chunk of them being Seniors from the Ivy league looking for a Grad year. Last year there were 1,100 in the portal.

Nutter didn't play in the last six games of the season, including our last game just 8 days ago but here is training yesterday and looking healthy.

57, that’s just my opinion on who leaves we will find out soon enough. Congrats to Kaleb Thorton on getting to march madness by transferring to Akron.

If all you watch the end of the championship game and slow down the tape Kent State coach Senderhoff clearly, in agony, says "oh no, Thornton is going to March Madness because my guy just made an all time stupid play."

Not quite Chris Webber time out territory but what an ending.
