March Madness
App St survives in the SB quarters in OT vs 9-23 GA Southern. App St fouls a 3 point shooter up 2, loses the lead, then throws it away but manages to tie it late and get to OT where they choose not to foul up 3 and Ga Southern rims out a tying 3 pointer.

High Point, the top seed in the loses by 1 on OT in Big South semis. Longwood also chose not to foul up 3 late as High Point misses the tying 3.

Vermont just started their Amer East quarterfinal-won league outright and is 25-6.

UT opponents Ind St (L) and N Iowa (W) square off in Valley semis today. winner to play Drake/Bradley a pair that split w Akron. Ind St has at large metrics but as a mid major may need to win the auto bid.

bubble team New Mexico closes the reg season at #22 Utah St. Lobos either need this win or a run in the MWC to join the field, most likely. MWC has Utah St, Nevada, Boise, San Diego St all looking to be in the field w NM and Colorado St likely to get in.

UC Irvine won the Big West and is 23-8.

G Mason closes at home vs A10 champ Richmond and is 19-11.

Oakland won the Horizon and plays Cleve St in the semis Monday. Wright St lost in quarters in OT

RE: March Madness
A couple UT opponents leading the bubble. New Mexico lost at #22 Utah St in the final seconds and didn't get the key win they needed. Now go into the MWC tournament needing a win or two.

Ind St loses a tight finish to Drake and could well be playing in Dayton in the play-in round.

Vermont overcomes a deficit to survive in their league semis.

Louisiana is done at 19-14. Marshall also falls in SB quarters.

App St losing as I type in the SB semis.

RE: March Madness
Yeah, double pump elbow jumper at the buzzer. App St had several shots to take the lead in the last minute but couldn't get a good look or make a tough shot. I would put them in the field but we know the P6 bias. Lots of P6 bubble teams like Iowa, Utah, Miss St, Villanova, St Johns that have marginal resumes but may get in. Reality is that if your league has lots of top 100 teams you just need to win about half those games to get to the tourney. If your league isn't like that you gotta win most of your limited top 100 games to maybe get in. App St beat Auburn who is a top 4 seed.

The Vegas Tournament (not really in Vegas) gave us #26 Ind St, #29 NM, #74 Irvine. We also had #69 App St #84 G Mason #103 Vermont #108 N Iowa #132 Oakland plus W Va, Wright St and La were around #150, Only Marshall and Detroit were weak opponents by ranking. If UT had gone like 10-3 or 11-2 against this schedule our computer ranking would be great. Bold teams won their conference.

By the way if UT gets in we are predicted to be a 14 seed. Baylor is predicted to be a 3.
