Davis' stat line was pretty crazy tonight. 20, 5, 8, and 4 steals. He's become a very good player.
You could build a pretty good MAC squad out of the guys in street clothes on the end of our bench. Moss, Payton, Gillespie, Safford, and Bass could be a starting 5.
I think the above post is the epilogue to this game and this season. Can't remember a Kent team snake-bit by so many injuries. The good thing is potentially 4 of the five above return, and three of the five (Moss, Gillespie, Safford) are pretty much a lock. The big ??? going into next season is Kent really doesn't know what it truly has in Moss and Gillespie. Both have shown positive signs, but neither has put together a string of 3-4-5 games of solid play/production.
I actually think Moss can/will be a better more consistent Gio, but not as many assists. Gillespie will at least be a lot like Hornbeak - a plus rebounder - yet still have ??? about his offense. Yes, Kent needs at least 1, maybe 2 point guards. But I still think there is a need for a juco/transfer post player with some low-block skills. But good luck finding one if they don't already have one on the hook.
Freeman has been a transfer bust ... pure and simple. He will be addition by subtraction.
Anyone know how likely it is that we can get an injury redshirt for Gillespie? If he can't, it will be a real shame that he only has two years left. Probably should've been redshirted last year then loses almost the entire year to an injury this year.
Well, he played in more than 30% of the scheduled games, so I don't think he qualifies, unless there are some exceptions I don't know about.

I think he is just a hair over 30-percent (11 games) but I certainly believe if the case is presented strongly, showing he rarely played 20-plus minutes in any game this season, combined with his games/minutes from last season (also below 30 percent) Kent would have a legit shot at getting that extra year.
Let's hope so.

It being percentage based is dumb. That means teams that go further in the tournaments have a better chance of getting injures players a redshirt.

No, the rule is SCHEDULED games, not total games after post-season.

So is at least one MAC Tournament game considered a 'scheduled' game, or not? Either way, I think he would have been fine at 10 games, but must challenge the rule at 11 games.

I'm getting confused now. Here are the rules (page 69):

I thought the 30% rule applied to football while basketball is any games in the season burns the redshirt.

You are referring to a regular redshirt Yes, a basketball player can't play at all for a regular redshirt. Medical redshirts are different.
