I still think the best method of bringing new schools to the league is using mind control.

Kansas is a Bball school, B12 Bball > than SEC Bball, why would Kansas leave? Most likely defections from ACC are Clemson and FSU agree with another poster replacements would be academic schools, ECU would never get an invite.

There’s tens of millions of dollars of reasons annually that Kansas would go to the SEC. That’s without question. The question is what does the SEC and ESPN want. I don’t know and don’t really care.

Improve SEC basketball, give Mizzou a legit rival, more SEC representation in AAU. That's also why Duke & UNC are also SEC targets, minus Mizzou rivalries.

Plus, this has nothing to do with the SBC.

The SBC has to ready to strike if the ACC gets raided and backfills with some of the rumored AAC schools. We'll never be apart of the P2/P3, but we could be in position to join a second level of the new look ACC and whatever comes of the PAC/MWC. A couple of quality adds could distance us from the remaining AAC, CUSA, and MAC.

agree ... however, I think it happens simply due to attrition with a north/south division of 24-28 schools....
the Sun Belt couldn't be in a better position than it is today...
southern miss has gotten lucky twice during my time as a fan since '74 (it's a dadgum miracle we were asked to be a part of the Metro conference when it formed) ... joining the belt secured our future to the final phase ... #thankful

I guess it comes down to the Big12's media partners. There's only so many schools that bring the value of the BIG10 & SEC payout. The BIG12 would love to clean up the ACC after the P2 take what they want but do they have the backing for it? I'm not convinced the ACC will get the treatment of the PAC, not counting ND there will be 17 ACC schools. If the BIG10 comes back around to take Stanford and Cal then maybe otherwise they'll be able to rebuild fairly easily like the Big12 with much worse revenue sports.

The Media Money is gonna dry up sooner than later. All the big executives and conference admins are just padding their wallets while at the same time sacrificing college sports.
"The conglomerates, they definitely jumped the gun, I think, in shifting their assets away from the cable networks and left them as zombies,” says Michael Schneider, television editor at Variety. “They’re paying the price.”
In 2015, some 87% of American homes had a cable or satellite television subscription, according to the Nielsen company. By 2023, only 47% of homes subscribed. If you include services like Hulu or YouTube TV, the percentage of homes with access to multiple channels was 62% last year, Nielsen said.
If fewer people have cable, then obviously fewer are watching. But it’s a classic chicken-and-egg situation: Have the number of subscribers dropped because people feel the networks have less to offer? Or is less being offered because there are fewer viewers?"

No matter how down I ever am about ECU athletics (and I'm really down about it right now) I can always come here and see at least you guys would like us to come and fill your stadiums and lose games to you.
