Kent State @ Ball State
The Golden Flashes will look to secure a spot in the Mid American Conference Tournament on Tuesday when they travel to Muncie Indiana. The news of Payton's injury certainly changes things a bit. However, it shouldn't impact KSU's desire to make it to Cleveland and see what happens in tournament play.

As of this beautiful Sunday morning the Golden Flashes find themselves in the 6 spot:

1. Akron 13-3 vs. EMU
2. Toledo 12-4 @Miami
3. Ohio U. 11-5 @Buffalo
4. Central Mich 10-6 @NIU
5. Miami 9-7 vs. Toledo
6. Kent State 8-8 @Ball State
7. BGSU 8-8 @WMU
8. Western Mich. 8-8 vs. BGSU

9. Ball State 6-10 vs. Kent State

Go Flashes!

If it comes down to a head-to-head tie with Ball State for No. 8 spot, what is the tiebreaker, assuming KSU-BSU split their two games???

If that scenario plays out it's unlikely to be a two way tie so it gets more complicated. BSU tying us would mean they have to also beat BG (who we're tied with). If that happens then BG has to win on Tuesday otherwise they're also be tied with us and BSU. On Tuesday BG plays WMU who... We're also tied with. So if BG wins that game then WMU has to win their final game to not be tied with us and BSU and their final game is against Akron. I believe three way tied normally are a combined record against both opponents. Which assuming we lose to BSU on Tuesday we would be 2-1 if it's BG or WMU since we beat both of them. Clear as mud, right?

Per the MAC’s Twitter, KSU has clinched a spot in Cleveland…

Thanks Eagle66. I had suspected that they very well may have but didn't know for sure.

But they have to get to number 6 or 7 so fallsdog can make the game. Try to figure that one out.

I sure hope Hornbeak, who is day-to-day, can put in major minutes because all they have inside now beside him are Entenmann and Hunter.

I liked the zone vs. CMU. I wonder if we could see more of it.

RE: Kent State @ Ball State
So the way I sees it is that regardless of the outcome of tonight's game between Kent State University and Ball State University, the Flashes will still have the upper hand over the loser of the Bowling Green vs. Western Michigan game.

That said..if would be nice if Bowling Green could take care of the Broncos today because I doubt Western will be able to stop Akron on the final day of MAC play next week. Should the Broncos lose twice, they will not pass Kent State.

Just for fun, here are my updated projections. burden, don't get any idea$.

1. Akron 15-3
2. Toledo 14-4
3. Ohio U. 13-5
4. Central Mich 11-7
5. Miami 9-9
6. Bowling Green 10-8
7. Kent State 9-9
8. Western Mich. 9-9

9. Ball State 6-12

RE: Kent State @ Ball State
I'm just guessing here but I think I'd prefer WMU wins tonight and Kent wins tonight. I think if that happens the only way we could end up being worse than the 6 seed is WMU beating Akron. We beat BG and WMU so we should hold the tie breaker over either or both and BG is more likely to win the last game than WMU.

I saw in today's paper that Sendy and Groce both dislike the new NIT format. Like virtually everything else, it's all about the money.

I have the no Payton blues. I think you are correct but I’ve got a bad feeling about this trip west of Oxford.

That's fair.

Lot to play for tonight. Consecutive seasons without a losing season for one . Losing 13-5 early. and looking mighty lackadaisical.

Playing a 3 seed in CLE way better than playing 1or 2. Hope we put forth an effort.

Switching to football I see that the Big10 and SEC want 14 teams and for there 2 champions to get the byes no matter what. Then they figure a couple of their at large teams could beat the ACC and Big12 champs. Presto after one round its an all Big10/SEC playoff. This is headed in a bad direction.
